Kevin is the National Mining Leader at PwC, specializing in the extractive sector. Kevin has over 18 years of experience providing Canadian corporate and cross-border tax services (including cross-border financing, corporate reorganizations, corporate compliance and tax audit defense) to large and medium-sized multinational companies across multiple industries including mining, oil and gas, renewable energy and retail and consumer.

Kevin also has significant experience on M&A transactions including tax due diligence, domestic and international structuring and tax modelling for both Canadian inbound and outbound companies.

Kevin regularly tutors at CPA Canada tax courses and has presented to the Tax Executives Institute, the Canadian Tax Foundation and at numerous tax conferences. He is also a contributor to various journals and publications focused on the mining industry and a co-contributing editor of the Resource Sector Taxation journal published by Federated Press.

  • Tax due diligence, structuring and spin-off planning for acquisitions of Canadian companies with operations in Latin America.
  • Tax structuring assistance and planning for a significant joint acquisition of a Canadian based mid-tier gold mining company and spin-off of royalty and other non-core assets.
  • Tax structuring assistance and planning in respect of the divestiture of non-core assets by a Canadian based company, resulting in significant foreign and Canadian tax savings.
  • Tax modelling and scenario planning for mining projects across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Significant experience advising on both buy-side and sell-side royalty and streaming transactions across multiple jurisdictions.
