Jonathan M. Charron is a tax partner on the Private Clients team and a partner with PwC Law LLP.

Jonathan has a proven history of advising clients in various industries on a broad range of complex international legal and taxation matters. When it comes to collaborating with private clients; he has strong expertise in supporting multiple sectors with respect to their tax and estate planning, allowing their businesses to continue to thrive. 

His areas of expertise center around Canadian and international tax law, asset protection, preservation and estate transfer planning, trusts and estates, private international law, immigration and emigration planning, corporate reorganizations and cross-border transactions, capital gains exemption planning techniques, distribution planning for corporations and trusts, life insurance planning, and philanthropic tax planning.

Jonathan has also co-written a chapter on non-resident trust rules in the book “Introduction to International Tax in Canada”, published by Thomson Reuters, which he updates annually. He has also authored various articles, notably for STEP Canada. Jonathan taught tax law and estate planning at Université de Montréal (joint program with HEC Montréal), Université de Sherbrooke and the University of Ottawa (Common Law Program).

Jonathan is a member of the Barreau du Québec, the Law Society of Ontario and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation, jointly granted by the Université de Montréal and HEC Montréal. He received a Licentiate in Law (LL.L.) (Civil Law) and a Bachelor of Common Law (LL.B.) from the University of Ottawa. He is also a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Association de planification fiscale et financière (APFF).
