Chris Girard

Chris Girard is a Partner in PwC's Calgary office and a leader in the firm's Energy, Utilities, Resources and Industrials (EURIS) Assurance practice. With more than 14 years of experience auditing some of Canada's largest and most complex public interest entities, Chris is recognized for the technical rigour, commercial insight and trusted-advisor mindset he brings to senior management teams and audit committees. He is a leading voice in audit transformation at PwC Canada, serving as a subject matter expert for the firm's next-generation audit platform and championing the integration of artificial intelligence and innovative technologies into the audit. Chris regularly leads executive thought-leadership sessions on the future of AI in financial reporting and assurance, and is known for a collaborative, hands-on approach that helps clients navigate change with confidence.

Chris's client portfolio spans large integrated energy producers, oilfield and drilling services companies, and other Canadian and cross-border public interest entities. He brings deep technical fluency across IFRS and US GAAP, as well as Canadian, US (PCAOB/SEC) and international auditing standards. His experience includes supporting clients through major acquisitions, US registrations and PCAOB regulatory transitions, and integrated, cross-line-of-service solutions spanning consulting, deals, tax and risk services. Earlier in his career, Chris completed a secondment with PwC's Digital Innovation team in Asia, sharing Canadian digital accelerator practices with global priority accounts.

Beyond his client work, Chris is a sought-after coach and mentor who actively develops the next generation of assurance professionals, leads campus recruiting initiatives, and delivers thought-leadership sessions to alumni and industry audiences on AI, ethics and the future of assurance. He contributes to the broader community through his volunteering involvement such as a past mentor with Junior Achievement of Southern Alberta. Chris is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
