The list of stock exchanges relevant to the mining industry is growing. How do you decide which exchanges your company should be listed on to ensure continued growth and investor attraction? The presentation will also look at how mining companies can ensure that their equity story stands out in difficult equity markets. In 2011, more than 250 IPOs were cancelled or postponed globally. Recent deals have been vulnerable to market volatility and changes in investor risk appetite, yet the pipeline remains strong. Amid this uncertainty, how can you ensure success with your equity story?

Mining companies are increasingly being asked by NGOs for disclosure of cash income tax and royalty payments to governments, and are even statutorily required to do so in some jurisdictions. Further, the mining industry is facing proposed increases in taxes and royalties in many countries. This is all occurring against a broadening sustainability definition seeking to ensure mining companies "pay their fair share." This presentation will explore the history of these demands, the current statutory requirements of disclosure, as well as various elements of the current global mining tax policy debate. It will also address the many reasons mining companies should fully disclose all of their payments to government and enter the mining tax policy debate. Overall, the message to mining companies is, "tell your own story."

Hot on the heels of the launch of PwC's Global Mining Deals Report in late February, join us to look at major M&A activity in 2011, and investigate key trends projected to dominate the global mining sector in the year to come. The presentation will focus on the impact these trends will have on Canadian mining companies and how to specifically address the issues and opportunities that will arise as a result. How did the year stack up after the rebound in mining deal activity in 2010? What factors led to a "cooling off" of deal activity in the last half of the year? What mining sectors were most active in 2011, and how will international markets such as China and India play a role for 2012? And finally, what impact will resource nationalism have on the pace of deal making?
