Deepfakes are hyper-realistic but entirely fake videos, audio, and images created using artificial intelligence and machine learning. They are becoming a growing threat to businesses and individuals alike. Attackers can now convincingly imitate voices and faces to manipulate employees, spread disinformation, or carry out fraud in ways that are almost impossible to detect. The consequences? Financial loss, reputational damage, and compromised trust.
This training helps participants understand what deepfakes are, how they can be misused, and how to recognize and respond to potential threats. Through live demonstrations, expert-led session, and practical examples, we aim to raise awareness and strengthen your ability to defend against manipulation.
Where and how deepfakes are already being used to commit fraud,
How to recognize manipulated video and audio content,
The risks of impersonation in emails, phone calls, and video conferences,
Real-world examples of “fake president” fraud and similar scams,
How to respond to suspected deepfake incidents,
Why raising awareness across your organization matters,
How to handle your own media presence more securely.
This open training raises awareness and equips participants with practical tools to recognize and respond to deepfake and impersonation threats. It includes live demonstrations and is delivered in an interactive format, accessible to professionals across departments. The course is structured into four key areas, drawing on the expertise of PwC’s cyber, forensic, and risk specialists:
1. Compromise Assessment
Led by our cybersecurity team, this session focuses on identifying whether a deepfake-related compromise has occurred within an organization. You will learn how such incidents can happen, how to spot them, and what signs may indicate that internal systems or employees have been targeted.
2. Internal Investigation
Facilitated by our forensic experts, this part covers how to conduct an internal investigation when company policies are violated. We will explore scenarios where employees unintentionally cooperate with attackers, and how to handle such situations professionally, including evidence collection and escalation steps.
3. Damage Assessment and Risk Mitigation
Here, we focus on the consequences of deepfake-related incidents, from financial and reputational damage to operational risks. You will learn how to assess the extent of harm and how to implement practical mitigation measures to prevent recurrence.
4. Deepfake Awareness and Related Cyber Services
This module builds overall awareness of deepfake threats, how the technology works, and how it is used by attackers. It also introduces participants to the broader range of cybersecurity tools and services, including simulation tools, media safety tips, and protective strategies.
