Michael McTaggart

Michael McTaggart is a Partner in PwC Canada's Deals practice based in Toronto and leads the Performance & Resturcutring practice for Canada. He has extensive experience advising businesses on valuation, corporate restructuring, financial distress, and value maximization strategies.

Michael has led numerous complex restructuring engagements, insolvency proceedings, and stakeholder dispute resolutions across a broad range of industries. His experience includes advising companies with restructiring-related matters, distressed re-financing, operational and performance improvement mandates. He works closely with management teams, lenders, investors, and other stakeholders to develop and implement solutions that preserve and enhance enterprise value.

Michael’s experience includes:

• Developing, negotiating, and implementing complex restructuring strategies.
• Managing and operating financially distressed businesses during periods of transition and change.
• Designing and executing financial and operational turnaround plans to stabilize performance and enhance value.
• Formulating, evaluating, and implementing creditor recovery and realization strategies.
• Analyzing financial, operational, and market factors that contribute to financial distress, and identifying solutions to mitigate risk and improve outcomes.
• Advising management teams, lenders, investors, and other stakeholders in complex restructuring, insolvency, and special situations engagements.

Michael qualified as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) in 2007 and a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) in 2008. He is a Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Practitioner (CIRP) and a Licensed Insolvency Trustee. In 2013, Michael was the recipient of the Jack Biddell Gold Medal in recognition of the articling member who received the highest mark on the 2013 CIRP National Insolvency Examination. He is a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada.
