Martha has been in the Customs and Trade field for approximately 28 years with both public and private sector experience. Her diverse background includes experience as an importer, a government officer, a customs broker, and an industry consultant. As a former Senior Officer Trade Compliance (SOTC) with the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) she acquired a solid background in the administration and enforcement of legislation as it relates to the international movement of persons and goods. Martha conducted importer verification audits as an SOTC and has a comprehensive understanding of both the audit and post-entry adjustment processes. As a Customs and Trade consultant, Martha has advised some of the largest brands in the food, automotive, electronic, sporting goods, fashion apparel and pharmaceutical industries.

As a partner in PwC’s Indirect Tax – Customs and International Trade practice she advises Canadian and multinational companies on customs and international trade regulatory matters involving customs valuation, country of origin marking, duty drawback, tariff classifications and the use of preferential trade programs and free trade agreements. Martha holds the designation of Professional Status with the CBSA, as well as the Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) and Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designations with the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers (CSCB).
