Volunteering at PwC connects communities with teamwork

PwC participates in the International Year of Volunteering via activities that deliver real, hands-on support and strengthen collaboration among colleagues. For us, volunteering is an opportunity to support organizations, schools, and public spaces in our neighbourhood.

208 colleagues from PwC offices in Bratislava and Košice took part in the spring volunteering activities. In addition to company-organized activities, our employees also come up with their own ideas about where and how they can help. Their initiative, willingness, and enthusiasm make our volunteering days something very special.

Our colleagues helped at a number of locations around Bratislava. At Bratislava Zoo, they helped clean the premises, painting the fence, and helping improve the rhinoceros enclosure. In cooperation with Mestské lesy in Bratislava, they worked on meadow maintenance, levelled soil, and helped with path improvements after digging work at Kamzík. At Wait’s quarry on Devínska Kobyla, they cleared grazing areas of invasive trees and shrubs. We also supported Elementary School Vrútocká and Rozmanitá School, colleagues planted herbs and helped with improvements to the school spaces. In Košice, they helped cleaned the grounds of Košice Zoo.

For us, volunteering is a way to support the communities in which we live and work. It also creates space for collaboration outside the office and gives colleagues an opportunity to see the tangible results of their joint efforts.

• Our colleague Ema Miklovičová, who took part in the activity for Mestské lesy at Kamzík, described her day as follows:
  “We spent a really enjoyable day in a beautiful setting. It was an opportunity to combine team-building with something meaningful and enjoy a great atmosphere throughout the day.”
• Tereza Štrbová:
  “I liked that the staff from BROZ were very kind and helpful. We learned a lot about their work, and because the activity also involved moving around in the field, we received a great number of interesting insights about protected areas, plants, and animals in the local area.”
