For the past 10 years, we have supported young people via the DofE program

Education and the development of young people are a key value for PwC. For the past ten years, we have been proud to be part of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Slovakia (DofE) programme, which helps students discover their potential, develop essential skills, and actively engage in community life.

Our colleagues take part in the programme as mentors, supporting students and the leadership teams of secondary schools. To date, 53 PwC colleagues have taken part in mentoring, supporting 72 students and the leadership of 9 secondary schools across Slovakia.

We assist young people via the Leaders of Tomorrow programme on their personal development journey. We help them choose activities, set goals, and find ways to work toward them. Students develop key skills such as effective communication, teamwork, goal orientation, discipline, and a commitment to volunteering and community engagement. The programme also includes work on physical fitness and perseverance.

Our mentors provide students with support, motivation, and guidance. They help them handle challenges, stay motivated, and better understand their strengths. We believe that supporting young people has long-term value—not only for the students, but also for their schools and society as a whole.

Via the Diamantová cena programme, we also mentor the leadership teams of secondary schools. Our colleagues have supported 20 school leadership team members, including school principals, deputies, and programme coordinators. Together, they work on developing leadership and communication skills that can help schools function better and strengthen the quality of the educational environment.

• Ivo Doležal – Ladislav Novomeský Gymnasium in Bratislava
