Programme modules

Work and working lives in a changing business environment

This module extends understanding of the interaction between the commercial business environment and likely future developments in the world of work, employment and the management of people. It discusses the range of people practises that are growing in importance, including those relating to ethics and sustainability, employee wellbeing, equality, diversity and inclusion.

After completing the module you will:
  • Understand ways in which major, long-term environmental developments affect employment, work and people management in organisations,
  • Understand current and short-term developments in the people management business environment,
  • Understand how change, innovation and creativity can promote improvements in organisational productivity,
  • Understand the key interrelationships between organisational commitment to ethics, sustainability, diversity and well-being.

 

People management and development strategies for performance

This unit explores how people professionals create value and deliver outcomes for organisations and employees, and how contributing to the achievement of business objectives improves performance and enhances the employee experience. It also focusses on the need for policy and practise to be delivered coherently, in a way that is integrated and in line with organisational objectives.

After completing the module you will:
  • Understand the benefits of aligning people's practises with organisational strategy and culture,

  • Understand how the development of people practises improves organisational performance and employee experience,

  • Understand current practise in major areas of people management and development work, 

  • Understand the role and influence of people professionals in different organisational settings.

 

Personal effectiveness, ethics and business acumen

This unit is about supporting successful workers and promoting effective and ethical behaviours to champion better work and working lives and develop business acumen. The theories and concepts that underpin this subject are essential for promoting inclusiveness and influencing others through fair and transparent behaviours. Through core skillsets such as perception, critical thinking, communication and teamwork, this unit will promote understanding of how actions and inclusive behaviour impact on ethics and the organisation.

After completing the module you will:
  • Be able to model principles and values that promote inclusivity aimed at maximising the contribution that people make to organisations,

  • Be able to achieve and maintain challenging business outcomes for yourself and organisations, 

  • Be able to apply learning to enhance personal effectiveness,

  • Be able to influence others during decision making while showing courage and conviction. 

 

Business research in people practice

This module deals with data analysis and research methods used for data collection. Throughout this module you will also find out how to work with data and use them in diverse areas of HR. 

After completing the module you will:
  • Be able to plan a people-practise business research project aimed at adding organisational value,

  • Be able to justify the most appropriate research methods to collect data for the chosen project,

  • Be able to analyse data to make decisions and provide business and people management insights,

  • Be able to propose recommendations based on conclusions derived from research and analysis.

 

Strategic employment relations

The module deals with labour law issues, workplace relations and cooperation between employees and trade unions on one hand and organisations and HR departments on the other hand.

After completing the module you will:
  • Understand different perspectives on employment relations and how they influence the roles of people professionals and line managers,

  • Understand how external institutions can shape employment relations at the organisational level,

  • Understand how professionals can work with employees and trade unions to sustain mutuality and voice,

  • Understand how professionals work with employees and trade unions to mitigate organisational risks.

 

Resourcing and talent management to sustain success

This module focusses on the latest trends in recruitment, selection process strategy, talent management and succession planning as major factors for achieving sustainable organisational performance.

After completing the module you will:
  • Understand the impact of the changing business environment on resourcing and talent management strategy and practise,

  • Understand organisational recruitment and selection strategies,

  • Understand the importance of succession planning to support sustainable organisational performance,

  • Understand approaches to improving individual and team performance.

 

Strategic reward management

This module deals with remuneration strategy and focusses on remuneration policy and its contribution to fulfilling the company's business strategy.

After completing the module you will:
  • Understand effective reward strategies and policy frameworks,

  • Understand the value of a ‘total rewards’ approach,

  • Understand pay structures and approaches to establishing pay levels,

  • Understand the importance of organisational approaches to compliant ethical and reward practise.

 

Technology enhanced learning

This unit considers the role of technology within learning and the use of technology-enabled content and platforms within organisations. It focusses on how data and learning analytics may be utilised by the learning and development function, while exploring the implementation of technological systems and considering the potential barriers to success. 

After completing the module you will:
  • Understand major technological developments and their impact on the design and practise of learning and development,

  • Understand a variety of technological solutions and their relevance within learning and development, 

  • Understand the implementation of learning technologies within organisations,

  • Understand the role of data in improving the effectiveness of organisational learning and development provision.

Programme details

The CIPD Associate Diploma in People Management is a 12-month programme consisting of 8 modules that contain interactive workshops and diverse educational activities. The program contains 13 teaching days.

Suitable for highly experienced people with 10+ years of professional experience who are aspiring for the top strategic HR role and operate in a complex or multinational environment.

 

There are no special requirements for participants.

Fees

Following fees are not included in the course price: CIPD registration fee (230 GBP), entry fee (40 GBP), membership fee for 12 months (98 GBP) and renewal of membership fee for the next year (98 GBP). 

 

The CIPD Advanced Diploma in Strategic People Management provides associate membership (doc. CIPD), and, after successfully passing the final exam, candidates with relevant professional experience can apply for charter membership.

 

Vanda Šinková

Vanda Šinková has extensive experience in HR management. Currently, she is the leader of CIPD Centre of Excellence for the PwC Academies in CEE and delivers CIPD qualifications in several CEE countries. In her HR leader role, Vanda has been responsible for the overall HR management agenda, as well as for the strategic HR and change management, organisational and talent development.
