Success story: PwC Legal Ukraine successfully defended a major oil trader in a tax dispute

Recently, the Attorneys Association “PwC Legal” successfully defended the interests of a client, one of the world’s leading oil traders, in a tax dispute with the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.

Our client was assessed with a fine for an alleged late payment of advance monthly CPT payment almost three years ago. In fact, the client, in due course and in timely fashion, requested the tax authority to offset its CPT overpayment against its advance monthly CPT obligation, while the tax authority failed to process  the client’s lawful request.

A team of lawyers, comprised of Andrey Pronchenko (Managing Partner), Zhanna Brazhnyk (Head of Tax Litigation practice) and Yuliia Mykhailiuk (Attorney) succeeded at developing a winning defense strategy, which resulted the fines being reversed during the administrative (pre-trial) proceedings.
