"At PwC, we believe our people are the driving force behind our success. By nurturing their potential and fostering a culture of innovation, we're not just preparing them for the challenges of today but equipping them to shape the future. Together, we're building a resilient and forward-thinking workforce that inspires positive change across our industry and beyond."
At PwC, our people are at the heart of our success. They bring unique perspectives and talents that drive meaningful change and shape our strategic vision. We encourage growth by inspiring individuals to lead by example, aim high, and collaborate to elevate quality and care across the firm.
Our commitment goes beyond developing skills - we create an environment where potential is nurtured, innovation is embraced, and lasting relationships are built. By using new technologies and collaborating with leading organisations, we empower our team to influence our industry and inspire positive change, ensuring our impact extends beyond PwC and contributes to a brighter, more resilient future for all.
It revolves around 4 main pillars:
Shaping tomorrow is about empowering our people to make a meaningful impact - today and into the future. We offer opportunities to address complex, real-world problems that matter to our clients, society, and the world around us.
By encouraging bold thinking, hands-on experience, and exposure to diverse challenges, we nurture a future-focused mindset that keeps us relevant and resilient. By using the latest technology and a culture of innovation, we equip our people to anticipate what's next and become the trusted experts our clients turn to when they need to shape what's ahead. We’ve worked on this commitment by:
In today’s digitally driven and rapidly changing environment, ongoing transformation is essential. To meet our clients’ evolving expectations, both our organisation and our employees must consistently adapt - demonstrating leadership in times of change and proactively acquiring new skills.
This year, we implemented a skills-based approach that recognises the distinct capabilities of each individual, extending beyond traditional roles. To further enhance our workforce’s capabilities and better serve our clients, we’ve invested in a comprehensive suite of skills platforms and advanced learning tools using artificial intelligence. Every employee now benefits from a customised learning journey, enabling them to acquire emerging, high-demand skills and achieve substantial professional growth.
Remaining relevant means evolving the way we learn, decide, and deliver. This year, our approach moved beyond simple automation of tasks and workflows, towards thoughtfully integrating AI as a practical tool to support our work each day. Crucially, AI is not a substitute for human insight or experience - rather, it acts as an enabler, empowering us to work more intelligently and efficiently while freeing us to focus on value creation, creativity, and relationship-building. By embedding AI through approved platforms like Microsoft Copilot, ChatPwC, and others, we’ve created space for curiosity and continuous learning to flourish in our daily routines.
Building on last year’s projects and ideas, our emphasis has remained on safe, responsible exploration - ensuring AI is accessible and supports, rather than replaces, the unique judgement and perspective our people bring. The result is less time on administrative work, quicker analysis of complex information, and enhanced collaboration across teams. AI strengthens our expertise and improves our daily experience, but it is our people - their conversations, relationships, and values - who remain at the heart of our culture and purpose.
Our people remain at the heart of how we explore and apply AI. This year, we’ve focused on responsible adoption through human-in-the-loop reviews, clear guidance to manage risk, and practical upskilling. Our GenAI Champions, trainers, and experts have helped bring AI to life - starting small, learning together, and sharing openly across global and local communities. From regular showcases to grassroots experimentation, adoption has been a collective journey. Looking ahead, we’ll scale what works and continue to pair technology with empathy and judgement to enhance both client outcomes and employee experience.
This year, we undertook a comprehensive revamp of our student programmes. We began by listening - holding focus groups with students to understand their experiences, challenges, and aspirations. Their insights directly informed a range of changes, from how we engage with the student market to how we support and develop students once they join our firm. These enhancements have allowed us to better align our offering with the expectations of emerging talent while also building a stronger foundation for the future of our workforce. By investing in the next generation with greater intention and responsiveness, we’re shaping not only their careers, but the future of our firm.
In line with our focus on shaping tomorrow, we also refreshed our employee referral programme to further strengthen our ability to attract high-quality talent. By empowering our people to play an active role in identifying future talent, we’re reinforcing a culture of ownership and collaboration helping us reach strong candidates who align with our values and vision for the future.
The initiatives introduced under this pillar, together with other key initiatives, have played a vital role in driving our growth. We remain focused on building momentum, strengthening these efforts to ensure the firm is equipped to thrive in a changing world and ready to meet the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
Our commitment to growth is rooted in a culture that empowers our people to continuously learn, develop, and thrive. Growth is a daily journey - through challenging work, impactful coaching, and constructive, multi-directional feedback.
By cultivating curiosity and encouraging knowledge sharing, we help shape unique career paths. With the right support, tools, and technology, we create an environment where everyone can fuel their development and support each other’s success.
As part of our commitment to growth, this year we invested in equipping our managers with the skills and confidence to be effective coaches. Through targeted training sessions, they learned practical coaching techniques to better support the development of their team members - building stronger relationships, more meaningful feedback, and a culture where growth is actively guided and encouraged.
The impact of this investment is already evident, with 87% of our people reporting having relevant discussions with the individuals responsible for supporting their performance and development in our recent engagement survey.
The launch of Feedback Exchange, a new tool designed to foster personal and professional growth through ongoing, transparent feedback continues to embed a feedback rich culture. By simplifying the process of giving and requesting multi-directional feedback, the platform encourages open conversations that help our people understand their impact, build on their strengths, and identify areas for improvement.
Our commitment to growth is reflected in the real professional progress our people are making. This year, we celebrated 219 promotions across the firm - a testament to the dedication, development, and support that enable our people to thrive. These milestones highlight the strength of our culture of growth and our ongoing investment in helping our people reach their potential.
Bringing your best, every day is about nurturing a culture where excellence is the standard, not the exception. It means creating an environment where our people are empowered to act with integrity, learn from leading experts, challenge themselves, and approach complexity with confidence. By nurturing this mindset, we continue to elevate quality, manage risk thoughtfully, and inspire one another, and our clients, to reimagine what’s possible.
We build on this pillar by applying the PwC Professional framework - comprising six core behaviours: Inspire, Empower, Evolve, Build, Champion, and Deliver – in all aspects of our work. These behaviours define what it means to consistently bring your best - from leading with purpose to adapting and growing in an ever-changing world.
This framework is embedded in our leadership training journey and is continuously guiding our decisions around performance, promotion, development, and recruitment, ensuring that we uphold the highest standards in our interactions with clients and teams. By embedding these behaviours in how we operate, we set high expectations while fostering trust, collaboration, and innovation enabling us to consistently deliver distinctive value to our clients.
We have taken meaningful steps to nurture a culture of openness, integrity, and accountability. Encouraging colleagues to speak up and raise concerns is a key part of this. Over the past year, we’ve focused on strengthening the way we support transparency around how concerns are handled, including reinforcing expectations through updated policies and tailored training. These efforts aim to build trust and ensure all voices are heard, promoting a workplace where integrity is championed and respected.
We continued to reinforce our recognition and accountability framework to ensure that every individual is recognised for their contributions and is also clearly responsible for meeting their key performance indicators (KPIs) and actively managing their own development. This empowers employees to take full ownership of their contributions, encourage proactive engagement with their goals, and support continuous growth. This approach both drives higher performance standards, as well as aligns personal development with the firm’s broader strategic objectives, reinforcing a culture of responsibility and sustained success.
We acknowledge that when our people feel their best - physically, mentally, and emotionally - they perform at their best as well. We continue to invest in employee wellbeing, recognising it as the foundation of a sustainable high-performing workforce. Building on previous initiatives, our fitness and nutrition programmes were relaunched, to promote healthy habits and support physical wellbeing throughout the firm. Now in its fifth year, our Employee Assistance Programme remains a trusted, confidential resource for those navigating personal or professional challenges. Its ongoing success reflects our people-first approach, and we remain committed to supporting our team’s holistic wellbeing.
Bringing our best each day also requires time to rest, recharge and step away. This year, we refreshed our leave policies and improved how we monitor and support leave usage. Through more meaningful conversations between individuals and their leaders, we’re encouraging thoughtful planning and regular use of leave to support wellbeing and sustain high performance.
By putting an emphasis on taking time off and reinforcing its importance, we’re helping our people protect their energy, maintain balance, and approach their responsibilities with renewed focus and purpose.
This pillar remains essential, because when each of us brings our best every day, we elevate not only our own performance but the collective success of our firm.
Central to our culture is a belief that we are stronger together. Embracing inclusion, driving impact reflects our commitment to foster a collaborative and inclusive workplace, where diversity of thought and experience is valued. It’s about recognising and appreciating unique perspectives and working together to create lasting impact for our people, clients, and society.
This year, we continued to embed inclusion into the everyday moments that matter - starting with how we lead, support, and collaborate with one another. We rolled out dedicated diversity and inclusion training for both our Human Capital team and our newly promoted managers and senior managers across the firm. These sessions help our teams better understand the role they play in shaping an environment where everyone feels they belong.
We also hosted a firm-wide talk on neurodiversity, sparking important conversations around how we can recognise and support the varied ways in which people think, learn and work. This event deepened awareness and reaffirmed our commitment to creating a workplace that values cognitive diversity and supports all individuals to thrive.
In summary, our unwavering commitment to shaping tomorrow, driving growth, bringing our best every day, and embracing inclusion has not only defined our culture but also propelled us forward as a firm. As we look ahead, we remain dedicated to nurturing a workplace where everyone is empowered to make a difference, confident that our shared values and collaborative spirit will continue to inspire progress for our people, our clients, and society at large.
During my three months at PwC France as part of the Gateway Programme*, I embraced a transformative journey at the Paris offices. This period was invaluable as I navigated new challenges, extending well beyond my comfort zone, furthering both my professional and personal development.
As a Senior Associate in the Marketing & Communications team at PwC Malta, I was already on a continuous path of growth and learning. However, the transition to a new country, team, and professional environment in France offered a unique platform for further advancement. Working closely with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and in a different organisational culture enhanced my confidence and enabled me to refine and expand my skill set.
From day one, the Communications team in France welcomed me warmly, facilitating my integration into daily projects with their openness and support. This inclusivity helped me to quickly feel like a valued member of the group, which greatly facilitated my adaptation and productivity. Moreover, my efforts in learning and practicing French daily significantly helped my seamless integration with the new team.
My time in Paris was marked by excitement and transformation, coinciding with PwC’s global rebrand. As a graphic designer, I was particularly eager to witness firsthand how the Communications team was going to strategically implement this significant change. This opportunity was not only professionally enriching but also deeply inspiring.
Overall, my experience in PwC France was instrumental in my ongoing professional journey. It reinforced my adaptability, deepened my expertise in communications and design, and strengthened my appreciation for collaboration within a multicultural environment.
*Our Gateway Programme enables talent swaps across territories, giving our people the chance to work in different countries and cultures. It supports global mindset development, agility, and career growth - enhancing leadership skills and enriching both individual and firm-wide capability.
Joining PwC as a graduate marked the beginning of my journey in professional services, laying a solid foundation that would shape my career. After some time with the firm, I was encouraged to pursue a Master’s degree abroad - an opportunity empowered by PwC, for my professional development journey.
Living and studying in Scotland proved to be a transformative experience, challenging me to step beyond my comfort zone and embrace independence. Managing life in a new country without my usual support network taught me invaluable lessons in self-reliance and perseverance. These experiences honed my work ethic and sharpened my time management skills - skills I rely on every day.
Beyond academics, engaging with people from diverse backgrounds broadened my perspective and deepened my appreciation for different cultures. Building friendships with individuals from all walks of life reinforced the importance of open-mindedness, empathy, and collaboration – essential skills in both professional and personal settings.
Returning to PwC two years ago and rejoining the Banking Regulatory team, I’ve seen the lasting impact of my experiences abroad. I now tackle new and unfamiliar tasks with greater confidence and a stronger sense of ownership. More importantly, I’ve witnessed how meaningful professional relationships - both with colleagues and clients - can elevate the work we do, and I actively strive to build and nurture those connections every day.
