Corporate Social Responsibility

Through Corporate Responsibility, we are on a journey to make every decision, every day, count towards a sustainable future. By behaving responsibly and acting with integrity, we play our part in making a difference in the areas that are critical to the resiliency of our business, people and the community. In recognising that each one of us is a catalyst for change, we can use our skills, voice and relationships to work with others and influence activities that make a difference, create change and have a lasting impact on the world around us.

Our five core values form the bedrock for our PwC culture. Acting with integrity, caring, teamwork, reimagining the possible and making a difference impact the choices we make across our business, including in our corporate social responsibility efforts:

Act with integrity

  • Speak up for what is right, especially when it feels difficult
  • Expect and deliver the highest quality outcomes
  • Make decisions and act as if our personal reputations were at stake

Make a difference

  • Stay informed and ask questions about the future of the world we live in
  • Create impact with our colleagues, our clients and society through our actions
  • Respond with agility to the ever changing environment in which we operate

Care

  • Make the effort to understand every individual and what matters to them
  • Recognise the value that each person contributes
  • Support others to grow and work in the ways that bring out their best

Work together

  • Collaborate and share relationships, ideas and knowledge beyond boundaries
  • Seek and integrate a diverse range of perspectives, people and ideas
  • Give and ask for feedback to improve ourselves and others

Reimagine the possible

  • Dare to challenge the status quo and try new things
  • Innovate, test and learn from failure
  • Have an open mind to the possibilities in every idea

Make responsibility count.

Sponsorships

Climeworks

Climeworks empowers people and companies to fight global warming by offering carbon dioxide removal as a service via direct air capture (DAC) technology. At Orca, Climeworks’ DAC facility in Iceland, the CO2 is permanently removed from the air by capturing and geologically storing it for thousands of years with Climeworks’ storage partner Carbfix. Climeworks’ DAC facilities run exclusively on clean energy, and their modular CO2 collectors can be stacked to build machines of any capacity.

Supporting the fight towards climate change through Climework's solution is largely part of PwC’s climate agenda in leading the race against global warming whilst strengthening trust in society and solving key problems based on sustainable results.

Inspire

PwC is honoured to be supporting Inspire Foundation and its causes. The passion and dedication of these people are indescribable. Today, Inspire helps hundreds of individuals with various disabilities ranging from Autism, Cerebral Palsy and others.

Through their dedicated staff and volunteers, inspire provide a free or heavily subsidised range of services and activities. These help their beneficiaries live a better life, experience growth and a sense of achievement by reaching their potential, whatever their disability is.

Majjistral Park

This year marks our second year of sponsorship with Majjistral Nature and History park. We are honoured to be supporting this federation since we at PwC Malta feel that a place of such cultural importance and natural beauty should be supported wholeheartedly.

We look forward to supporting Majjistral Park for more years to help them with their mission of conserving Maltese natural spaces and coastal heritage!

Rowing challenge

Rowing Challenge

We also supported Julian Bajada's 28-kilometer indoor rowing challenge in aid of the Malta Paralympic Committee.

This was the longest distance rowed by a Paralympic athlete in Malta and was the equivalent to rowing from Gnejna Bay to Birzebbugia!

The proceeds will be used to purchase Paralympic Rowing boats and to support a Paralympic Rowing sport development programme. The challenge also aimed to raise awareness about Paralympic sports in order to encourage others to participate.

Id-Dar tal-Providenza

Another organisation that we are proud to be supporting this year is Id-Dar tal-Providenza.

The organisation’s main goal is to provide a home with a warm and family-like environment for people with disabilities who are unable to live with their families for various reasons.

Id-Dar tal-Providenza is always working to improve the lives of its residents, but rely on the generosity of their benefactors and public donations in order to do so.

Hospice Malta

The firm is also pleased to support Hospice Malta in its noble mission to provide and promote the highest standards of palliative care for people with cancer, motor neuron disease and end-of-life respiratory, cardiac, renal, and liver disease. The organisation also assists and supports the families of the patients in their care.

Art Exhibition

We are very proud to have supported a fantastic art exhibition by Roberta Zammit Cutajar. The proceeds of the exhibition went to aid children in Ukraine and the MSPCA.

Food bank sponsorship

Foodbank

Part of our CSR initiatives involve supporting various social organisations, such as the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation. We hope that our contribution will assist in continuing to provide food packs to individuals and families in need.

Another great fact about the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation is that, in addition to providing food packs to people who are struggling financially, they also guide them to other support agencies. These agencies can help them build a better future through life-changing events such as finding a job and a place to live.

RMJ's Horse Rescue

In 2021, the firm helped RMJ Horse Rescue build a stable to house their beautiful horses and keep them safe and warm. Continuing our support for RMJ, this year the firm sponsored Golden, who made the PwC Stable his home. Our sponsorship will help RMJ to cover Golden’s food and bedding, as well as farrier bills for the coming year.

Alive 2022

ALIVE

For the first time, we sponsored the ALIVE Cycling Challenge for Cancer this year. This fundraising initiative is organised by the ALIVE Charity Foundation to raise funds for their mission to support medical research, in particular, cancer-related research programs at the University of Malta. As a firm, we are very proud to support this great cause.
