A number of new green tax initiatives are coming into effect over the next few months including the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and updates to the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS). These, together with other environment-related measures such as the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) initiatives are set to impact certain local businesses in a number of ways.
This session will primarily focus on CBAM. With the participation of the Malta Resources Authority and the Malta Tax and Customs Administration, we will explore how CBAM is being implemented locally and what its impact is likely to be on the targeted importers, which include importers of iron and steel, aluminium, fertilisers and cement products from outside the EU.
