What is a corporate carbon footprint?
- A corporate carbon footprint is a significant benchmark for the company’s impact on the environment. It is an indirect indicator of energy consumption, products and services. It expresses the amount equivalent to CO 2 released into the atmosphere due to the company activities or its products.
What is a product carbon footprint?
- A product carbon footprint involves the emissions of greenhouse gases produced within the life cycle of a product, from the extraction of raw materials to the waste disposal.
What is the GHG Protocol?
- The GHG Protocol is a global standard for measuring and reporting the carbon footprint. It sets a standard to measurement, management and reporting of greenhouse gases emissions generated by companies.
The carbon footprint measurement itself is quite a demanding issue, and that’s why the calculations for our clients come with a tool for the calculation and control of their future carbon footprint. This helps them monitor how their carbon footprint develops in time and allows them to simulate how their carbon footprint will change upon the implementation of new technologies or the transition to green energy.

Set-up of scope and mapping the current data management
At a workshop attended by selected representatives of your company, we will define the key sources of emissions and the scope of calculation. Within the primary screening, we will focus on the current data structure, data management, existing reporting tools, and the data reporting process. Subsequently, we will select a suitable programme for the tool creation, specify the scope of possible automation as well as the further steps to take.
Creation of a calculation tool and BI dashboard
We will create a computer tool using the source data to allow easy update in the future. Our aim is to maximise automation.
We will calculate your carbon footprint for the year 2020 (the so-called base year determining the default status and serving to setting goals and measuring the level of their achievement). Outputs from the computer tool will be exported to a BI solution which allows easy monitoring of the current state and development. The tool enables data filtering and provides a well-arranged basis for strategic decision-making.
Employee training and tool maintenance
We will train your staff who will be responsible for updating the calculation and management of the tool. Within the training, we will pass onto them the relevant theoretical information and practical tips on regular measurement even in the future. We will prepare tailored instructions on using the tool, collecting data and handling reporting processes. Upon request, we can provide a package of consultation hours dedicated to the tool maintenance and annual verification of the calculation.
Data collection
We will perform data collection relevant to the carbon footprint calculation. At this stage, we will be contacting your employees or even partners frequently for the purposes of external data collection (e.g. from suppliers).
Provided that the real data is not available or complete, we will use the data from internationally-recognised databases. We will elaborate a report (mandatory pursuant to the GHG Protocol and ASI certification) to evidence what the calculation is based on.
Process and reporting set-up
We will support you in the set-up of your reporting processes and responsibilities. We intend to maximise automation and to simplify the process as much as possible. If need be, we will help you set the process for sharing the outcomes within the company as well as with your external stakeholders.
