PwC advised the shareholders of Everrise Departmental Stores on their divestment of a majority equity interest in the company to Navis Capital Partners

Everrise Departmental Stores are amongst the most rapidly expanding supermarket chains in East Malaysia. Their growing market share is underscored by their increasing presence and visibility in both urban and suburban towns across East Malaysia. Established in 1993 and boasting a staff strength of over 1,000 employees, Everrise has a total of 13 branches in the region. Today, it has created a name for itself as a leading local supermarket chain that offers quality, value for money products. Everrise’s brand presence has strengthened with greater market intelligence and diligence in delivering customer satisfaction. Their success story is due to constant adaptation and evolution towards the local market’s changing needs and desires.

Founded in 1998, Navis manages approximately US$ 5 billion in public and private equity capital and focuses on investments primarily in and around Asia. Navis contributes both capital and management expertise to a limited number of well-positioned companies with the objective of directing strategic, operational and financial improvements. Navis has one of the largest private equity professional teams in Asia, comprising 70 individuals, supported by over 30 administrative staff, in six offices across the region. Navis has a long and proven track record in pan-Asian private equity, with over 80 control transactions across the Asian region completed since its establishment.
