PwC awards inaugural Impact Talent Scholarships to help build future-ready talent in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, 22 August 2026: PwC today awarded its inaugural Impact Talent Scholarships to six high-performing Malaysian students, after a rigorous selection process. This marks an important milestone in the firm's commitment to expanding opportunities for deserving students and strengthening Malaysia’s future talent pipeline. 

Launched earlier this year, the Impact Talent Scholarship programme supports deserving, high-potential undergraduates through financial assistance, leadership development, mentorship, and early exposure to the professional services environment. Through these opportunities, scholars can build the skills and confidence needed to thrive in an increasingly dynamic workforce.  

The programme places an emphasis on accounting and finance and technology-related fields, reflecting the growing importance of these capabilities in supporting Malaysia’s economic growth and digital transformation. These fields of study are represented across the programme’s inaugural cohort. 

At the awards ceremony this morning, Soo Hoo Khoon Yean (Soo Hoo), Managing Partner, PwC Malaysia, presented the awards to: 

• Jasmine Chin Jia Yee, 20, a first-year computer science major at Universiti Malaya

• Mohamad Hariz Hezriq Bin Mohamad Firus, 21, a first-year accounting major at UiTM Puncak Alam

• Muhammad Naif Bin Izhar Arif, 21, a first-year accounting major at UiTM Puncak Alam

• Nicole Chin Zi Qi, 21, a second-year computer science major at Multimedia University

• Rameya Lingam Gounder, 20, a first-year accounting major at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris

• Theevendran A/L N. Ravinderan, 20, a first-year accounting major at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia

The six scholars were selected following a comprehensive assessment process that included digital screening and interviews with PwC leaders.

Soo Hoo said: "Creating opportunities for young people to succeed is one of the most important investments we can make in our country’s future. When we invest in education and create pathways for young people in our community to realise their potential, we strengthen the foundations for a more resilient, innovative, and inclusive Malaysia.

We were very impressed by the calibre of our scholarship applicants and the strong leadership qualities they demonstrated throughout the selection process. These scholars exemplify the ambition, resilience, and capabilities needed to make meaningful contributions to their communities and beyond. We hope this programme will not only support their academic journey but also empower them to play an active role in shaping Malaysia’s future."

We recognise that a young person's ability to succeed should not be defined by their circumstances, which is why the Impact Talent Scholarship programme is designed to provide support that extends beyond financial assistance.

Through hands-on learning experiences, mentorship, and early career exposure, the programme provides avenues for promising young talents to broaden their horizons and grow as future leaders, while expanding access to opportunities that support social mobility.” 

The scholarship programme, which is open to young Malaysians aged 18 to 25 at the time of application, supports students from local universities who demonstrate strong academic achievement, leadership potential, and a commitment to continuous growth.  

With a focus on widening access to opportunities, it provides support to students from households with a monthly single income below RM6,000 or a total household monthly income below RM10,000. In addition to financial support, scholars will have opportunities to intern with PwC Malaysia, build their professional networks, and broaden their perspectives through a range of structured development and upskilling initiatives.   

The scholars will undertake a four-year bond with PwC upon graduation, allowing them to apply their skills and continue their professional development within the firm.
