PwC’s AI Leadership Conference creates momentum for leaders to shape the AI narrative in the market

13/05/25

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 May 2025 – A distinguished group of senior leaders from the public and private sectors convened at the PwC AI Leadership Conference 2025 to explore innovative perspectives on leadership in the AI era. Minister of Digital Malaysia Yang Berhormat Tuan Gobind Singh Deo presented the opening remarks at the conference, which was held at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

A milestone initiative for PwC, the conference is the first flagship event featuring the firm's new brand positioning. It reflects the firm’s commitment to empower businesses to ignite, accelerate and sustain meaningful change - mobilising experience and technology to meet the varied needs of clients in this fast-evolving landscape.

The PwC AI Leadership Conference is part of the AI Outbound series, featuring TED. This collaboration brings world-class speakers and thought-provoking ideas that will shape the future of AI leadership.

The theme of leadership amid rising societal expectations around trust in AI, was brought to life by a group of prolific speakers from the public sector, a regulatory body and representatives from PwC globally and locally.

Throughout the day, participants immersed in the latest thinking on AI through a series of discovery sessions around the themes of workforce, cybersecurity, data management and sustainability and also participated in a masterclass that introduced an AI Leadership Playbook for leaders to thrive in an AI-driven world.

Minister of Digital Malaysia Yang Berhormat Tuan Gobind Singh Deo said:

“The path towards a trustworthy AI environment needs to be forged with great foresight and discipline. This conference is an opportune time to ponder on the role of leaders in various fields, as they navigate the increasing complexities of AI while remaining steadfast in meeting varied stakeholder needs.

The government is committed to ensuring that Malaysia remains at the forefront of responsible AI development and deployment through initiatives like the establishment of the National AI Office (NAIO) and the launch of the AI Governance and Ethics Guidelines. As we strive to realise the vision of Ekonomi Madani, it is imperative for leaders to evolve with agility and careful consideration of how technology can shape our nation for greater good.”

The conference was an important event for DAMA Malaysia, which launched its Kuala Lumpur and Selangor chapter, reinforcing its crucial role in championing sound data governance and ethical data management practices. This occasion underlines the value of leadership by a not-for-profit, vendor-independent organisation in advancing best practices in data management that are grounded in trust and transparency.

PwC Malaysia and Vietnam Chief Digital Officer Sundara Raj said:

“We are proud to introduce PwC’s new brand to the market at our flagship AI Leadership Conference. We are inspired by the learnings and robust exchange of ideas among public and private sector leaders, which spur us on in helping our clients seize growth opportunities with greater impact.

There is huge potential for AI as an amplifier and accelerant of other new technologies that cross industry boundaries. We should invest in our local talent to nurture the necessary skills and capabilities to differentiate us as a nation in this promising arena.”
