Internationalisation Strategy for SMEs

Internationalisation Strategy for SMEs
  • November 18, 2025

The scheme is open to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises engaged in economic activity, irrespective of their legal form, subject to exclusions.

Eligible actions include an internationalisation strategy outlining how a business will promote its products or services to reach its target audience and achieve its objectives, procured from external Consultancy Service Providers which are registered with the Managing Authority, and which are autonomous and unrelated to the Beneficiary Undertaking.

The scheme can support both the following components or either one individually: Part 1, which covers studying opportunities abroad, and Part 2, which covers developing an internationalisation strategy for the selected country or countries.

The maximum grant available under this scheme is €20,000 per undertaking, at a maximum of €10,000 for each part. The aid intensity is set at 60% of the cost for start-up enterprises and 50% of the cost for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.

The scheme shall be managed on a demand driven basis. The Measures and Support Division have issued a public open call (rolling-call) with periodical cut-off dates for interested eligible Undertakings to submit their applications. Applications will be assessed and evaluated and eligible applications meeting the Gateway Criteria shall be awarded the grant. Grants shall be awarded on a first come first served basis subject to budget availability.
