The challenge

PwC had been the auditor for a gaming client for several years and had built deep knowledge of its operations and industry. After the business was acquired by a wider group, the group’s governance and reporting model required a change of auditor. This brought PwC’s audit engagement to an end and risked the loss of a longstanding relationship. At the same time, the acquisition created a clear opportunity to support the business with services linked to the transaction.

Our role

Recognising the importance of the acquisition, PwC brought together teams from valuation, accounting advisory, and transaction services to design a clear, tailored proposal for the Purchase Price Allocation (PPA) at group level. PwC used its detailed understanding of the gaming client and combined it with multidisciplinary skills to offer a coordinated, high-quality approach that matched the group’s needs.

What now exists

This joined-up approach meant PwC secured the PPA engagement, turning a potential loss of audit work into a new mandate. The work reinforced PwC’s role as a trusted adviser during a major corporate transaction and showed how using existing knowledge across service lines can create further value.
