A leading manufacturing and distribution organisation was investing in a new production and operational facility as part of a broader business transformation programme. The move represented a significant opportunity to modernise operations, increase production capacity, and support future growth, but it also introduced the challenge of designing a technology environment capable of supporting a highly connected and efficient operation from day one.
Management needed confidence that the technology decisions being made would not only support immediate operational requirements but also provide a scalable foundation for future digital initiatives, increased automation, enhanced visibility across the business, and long-term growth.
As PwC Digital, we partnered with the organisation to define, design, and deliver the technology foundations required to support its future operating model. Working closely with business and operational stakeholders, we conducted a comprehensive assessment of current and future business requirements and developed the target technology architecture for the new facility and wider organisation.
Our team designed the end-to-end infrastructure, network, cybersecurity, connectivity, and operational technology architecture needed to support manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, and corporate functions. This included developing the technology roadmap, defining governance requirements, establishing implementation standards, and ensuring alignment between business objectives and technology investments.
Beyond architecture and strategy, we delivered a comprehensive implementation and managed services approach to support the organisation throughout its transformation journey. This included the design and deployment of enterprise infrastructure, secure network services, backup and recovery capabilities, monitoring solutions, and cyber security controls, complemented by ongoing IT and Cyber Managed Services. Through our virtual Chief Information Security Officer (v-CISO) services, we also provided strategic cyber security leadership, governance, risk management, and security oversight to help strengthen operational resilience and support regulatory and business requirements.
Working alongside our Alliance Partners, including HPE, Palo Alto Networks, Acronis, and other leading technology providers, we helped translate the target architecture into an operational reality. We coordinated delivery activities across stakeholders and technology partners, providing project oversight, technical assurance, solution implementation support, and quality governance to ensure the technology ecosystem was deployed successfully and positioned to support long-term growth, innovation, and operational excellence.
The organisation now benefits from a modern, scalable, and resilient technology environment designed to support both current operations and future growth. With a clearly defined architecture, robust infrastructure foundations, comprehensive cyber security controls, and governance structures in place, the business is well positioned to maximise the value of its new production facility while supporting future innovation and digital transformation initiatives.
The combination of strategic architecture expertise, implementation delivery, managed services, and cyber security leadership has enabled the organisation to move from vision to execution with confidence. The result is a secure and scalable technology platform that supports operational excellence, business growth, and long-term resilience, while providing the flexibility required to evolve alongside future business needs.
