Measuring Progress of NDCs
Mauritius has drafted its National Determined Contributions (NDCs) together with Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMAs) as well as adaptation targets.
In order to make sure NAMAs and their respective targets are monitored, there is a need for climate change stakeholders to measure, report and verify data in a centralised, structured and reliable manner.
The NDC Registry aimed at monitoring and reporting the implementation and achievement of the NDCs.
The Registry comprises a Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) Framework, mitigation policies and measures, actions and plans. These are further componentised by mitigation and adaptation actions, related to implementing and achieving the NDCs.
Solution
Evidence base MRV for tracking climate action
The NDC Registry platform was co-created with the client and stakeholders. A specialised MRV framework for climate action and using PwC’s BXT Agile framework. Our team of experts delivered a system built on a multi-axis approach including transparency, and evidence based metrics.
Results
Measure progress of Climate actions
- Engagement with relevant stakeholders for the rapid and cost-effective implementation of climate action.
- An accessible and transparent tool that supports national efforts to track progress against domestic climate action objectives and NDCs to the Paris Agreement's long-term goals.
- Laying the building blocks for a centralised Climate Change Portal to support global reporting.
