Hui Cheng is a Partner with the Financial Services Tax Practice in PwC Singapore, and has more than 25 years of experience in handling tax matters related to the financial services sector. She specialises in providing tax compliance and tax advisory services with respect to asset and wealth management, banking and capital markets transactions, and transfer pricing for financialservices/transactions. Her experience includes advising clients on the following:​

  • Setting up of funds and investment platforms in Singapore and offshore, and tax implications relating to their investments into the region and their holding structures​
  • Tax and practical implications relating to set up of new VCCs, as well as redomiciling or restructuring existing funds to the VCC structure​
  • Tax due diligence reviews for potential investments to be acquired​
  • Permanent establishment exposure and ways to reduce such exposure
  • Acquisition/disposal of business ​
  • Transfer pricing planning and dispute resolution in relation to investment management services/structures and financial arrangements​

​She has also assisted clients in applying for advance rulings and tax incentives, and in carrying out assessment of their compliance with requirements for tax incentives and income/expenses classification for tax reporting purposes.
