PwC IFRS Deep Dives

Helping you meet your reporting requirements with more confidence

IFRS updates and keeping abreast of the relevant IFRS topics is an important element for finance people. Being on top of IFRS requires an ongoing process of deep dives and getting the guidance & training from the right professional.

At PwC, we see the IFRS updates and training as something more than just a compliance matter. These are essential tools and steps for the proper functioning of a finance team.

The concept of the programme is to use a good mix of human interaction and technology to create a platform that encourages collaboration, learning and exchange of views and perspectives on the selected topics. These courses and the related materials would cover the core concepts with the appropriate rigor and worked examples.

IFRS Deep Dives for the Banking sector

The Banking landscape is evolving beyond borders which give rise to more complex transactions. The financial reporting process eventually always needs to be enhanced as a result of those complexities alongside dynamic accounting standards.

We are therefore proposing an exclusive full-day IFRS Deep Dive training, tailored specifically for banks like yours. This session is designed to focus on the areas that tend to generate the most discussion, interpretation, and challenge in the Banking sector.

Read a synopsis of the topics:

IFRS 18 takes effect on January 1, 2027, replacing IAS 1. This session will focus on key aspects of IFRS 18 for banks, including new required subtotals, significant changes to the statement of financial performance structure and principles of aggregation and disaggregation. Additionally, we will cover Management-Defined Performance Measures and other relevant guidance for banks.

A practical deep dive into key areas impacting banks which are application of the Expected Credit Loss (ECL) general model, Effective Interest Rate (EIR) considerations, loan modifications, and accounting for repo and reverse repo transactions.

Addressing disclosure requirements with a focus on liquidity risk and fair value disclosures applicable for banks.

Considerations for the classification of minimum mandatory cash with the Central Bank.
