PwC Japan launches “Compliance & Regulatory Group”

Offering one-stop compliance and regulatory services to support financial industries

Wednesday, 24 June 2019 - PwC Japan Group (Chairman and Senior Partner: Koichiro Kimura) is pleased to announce the launch of “Compliance & Regulatory Group” which is newly established to highlight the regulatory agenda and growth strategies of financial industries, and starts its services on 1st July, 2019.

While meeting global regulatory changes and social demands have become ever more important management issues in financial industries today, this new cross-functional group will offer one-stop services on compliance and regulatory related issues, which each of PwC network firms including audits, consulting and deal advisory have been providing to clients separately for many years.

Compliance & Regulatory Group will leverage the expertise accumulated by the member firms of PwC Japan Group and global networks in areas such as compliance and financial regulation, insights on the data processes and systems required by financial institutions and financial service companies, and experiences gained through support for their growth strategies and regulatory agenda (cross-border M&A, etc.). Based on robust client relationships with trust, we aim to serve our clients consistently with the best services available in the industry.

To be and remain as a trusted advisor who will be there to support requirement of clients, we will also consider enhancing our broader advisory services not directly related to financial area in line with changes in the regulatory environment and social demands going forward.

Overview of the Compliance & Regulatory Group

    • Compliance area
      • Financial crime (such as AML/CFT)
      • Global compliance framework and management
      • Due diligence for M&A and post-merger integration (PMI)
    • Regulatory area
      • Financial markets regulations, including over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives regulatory reform
      • Basel III framework implementation such as capital adequacy requirements and liquidity requirements
      • Other regulatory compliance, and change management for financial regulations including “Business model transformation for financial regulations”.
    • Broader Financial Markets related advisory area
      • LIBOR and reference rate reforms
  2. New Group will provide services to the following markets/clients
    Financial institutions (commercial banks, trust banks, insurance companies, securities companies, asset management companies, investment advisors, leasing companies, credit card companies, money lenders, etc.), financial holding companies, funds transfer service providers, and other organizations related to the financial business (including general business corporations)
