In 2021, the challenges facing executives grew increasingly complex in light of multiple developments, such as changes in the balance of diplomatic and political power,concern over rising prices, supply chain disruptions and climate change. Under these circumstances, private equity funds, which rapidly transform companies to create corporate value, are attracting attention as a powerful prescription for the issues faced by Japanese companies.

In this report, which analyses trends in the private equity market in Japan, we examine trends in investments, exits and fundraising, as well as ESG compliance at private equity funds, and provide recommendations for the future.
