PwC Malaysia wins Diversity & Inclusion reporting award at ACCA Malaysia Sustainability Reporting Awards (MaSRA)

MaSRA is the longest running sustainability award in Malaysia and still going strong after 11 years. PwC Malaysia was one of 9 winners and 26 short-listed entries this year. There were a total of 55 submissions, an increase of 15% from last year.

The panel of judges included CEOs and Directors from Securities Commission Malaysia, Bursa Malaysia (the Central Stock Exchange), Talent Corporation Malaysia, ValueCap Sdn Bhd and Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC). Key criteria judges looked at were completeness, credibility and communication. Find out more about ACCA MaSRA here.

This was PwC Malaysia's first time participating in a sustainability award and we won the Commendation award for Reporting on Diversity & Inclusion.

One of our winning factors was having one of the first GRI4.0 reports in Malaysia. A feat which would not be possible without the help of our Sustainability & Climate Change team.

Best Service Provider for Business Continuity Management (BCM) 2014

We're proud to announce that PwC Malaysia was named as the "Best Service Provider for Business Continuity Management (BCM)" in Malaysia for the second year running. Ong Ai Lin, Senior Executive Director pictured here with her team, accepted the award from Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI) International.

We are heartened by the recognition from both the industry and institute in promoting business continuity to the community, and providing our clients with practical and innovative solutions to be able to respond to today’s changing BCM landscape.

With a client base of almost 50 organisations, our team continuously helps form BCM networking groups amongst our clients by providing them with a platform to network, share and exchange knowledge and ideas on current BCM trends and practices. PwC has also strived to establish long-term collaborations with local and international universities in efforts to provide greater awareness of BCM.

We are also thrilled to share that many of our PwC BCM alumni have taken up senior BCM positions in prominent national and multinational companies in Malaysia while PwC’s clients are also at the BCM forefront in this region. Two of our BCM clients were also recognised by DRI International this year as the “Best BCM Program Leader of the Year” as well as the “Best BCM Organisation for the Public Sector”.


PwC Malaysia wins FOUR AWARDS at the recent Human Resources Excellence Awards 2014

PwC Malaysia walked away with four awards at the recent Human Resources Excellence Awards 2014 held at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur, which saw a 270-strong crowd of HR professionals gather to celebrate their work and achievements from over the past year across 16 highly contested categories.

Organised by Human Resources magazine, Asia’s most read and most respected source of HR news and intelligence, and judged solely by HR leaders in the industry, the awards aim to recognise and honour organisations and HR professionals for their outstanding work and practice in Malaysia.

PwC Malaysia took home the GOLD awards for Excellence in Employer Branding, Excellence in Recruitment & Retention Strategy and Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) Practices, and the BRONZE award for Excellence in HR Social Media & Technology.


Our Managing Partner wins CEO Champion award

At the recent Life at Work Award 2014, PwC Malaysia Managing Partner Sridharan Nair emerged as the inaugural winner of the CEO Champion category.

Currently in its second year, the Life at Work Award recognises and celebrates women-friendly employers with leading workplace strategies that demonstrate drive, commitment and tenacity to champion the diversity and inclusion agenda. The award is organised by Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (Talentcorp) and Towers Watson in collaboration with the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development.

The award was presented by the Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin during the 12th Women’s Summit on 15 September 2014.

“PwC Malaysia recognises that retaining qualified women professionals is a critical business imperative and there is a need to provide flexibility for women to balance work and family commitments. One of our initiatives is the Back2Work Programme to hire women returnees, providing them the option to apply for a Flexible Work Arrangements package,” said Sri.



PwC Malaysia wins Supportive Advisory Firm of 2013 award

PwC Malaysia was awarded the Supportive Advisory Firm of 2013 by the Malaysian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (“MVCPEA”) during the MVCA Annual Dinner and Awards Night 2014 earlier this year.

The award was in recognition of PwC Malaysia's support and assistance in dealing with the accounting issues in the Malaysian venture capital and private equity industry that were raised in 2013.

PwC Malaysia Executive Chairman Dato' Mohammad Faiz Azmi received the award from YBhg. Tan Sri Dr. Irwan Serigar Abdullah, the Secretary General of Treasury Malaysia, who was the guest of honour at the annual MVCA dinner. Other attendees included key government officials, technology industry experts and foreign venture capital and private equity players.

The MVCA Annual Dinner and Awards Night 2014 also saw six companies recognised under the Outstanding Investee Companies of 2013 category, and five parties recognised under the Supportive GLC (government-linked company) and Industry Partners 2013 category.

PwC Malaysia recognised as the ‘Best Service Provider for Business Continuity Management (BCM)’ in Malaysia

PwC Malaysia has been awarded the inaugural ‘Best Service Provider for Business Continuity Management (BCM)’ by Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI) International. The award was presented at the recent DRI Malaysia 2013 Conference in Grand Millennium Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

The award recognises the best BCM service delivery in the industry, as well as the commitment in promoting business continuity to the community, and the ability to respond to the changing BCM landscape.

“Thank you, DRI for initiating these awards. They serve as both a recognition of the work that Business Continuity Management professionals have done as well as to encourage and motivate BCM practitioners to aim higher in their professional journey,” said Ong Ai Lin, PwC Malaysia Senior Executive Director, when receiving the award. “PwC Malaysia has worked with almost 50 clients over the past 13 years in the area of BCM. Receiving this award tonight is a testament to the tremendous support we have received from our clients and the BCM community over the years,” she added.

Two of PwC Malaysia’s clients also won individual awards at the awards ceremony for their contribution to the BCM industry. PwC Malaysia has been actively promoting BCM both locally and regionally through presentations at conferences as well as thought leadership articles in the press. The firm also organises BCM luncheons yearly, featuring speakers on a variety of BCM hot topics. These events serve as networking platforms for BCM professionals in Malaysia.

PwC Malaysia scored a hat trick at the recent Malaysia's 100 Leading Graduate Employers Awards. We took home the title of Malaysia’s Top Graduate Employer of the Year 2013, our fourth win. PwC also took home the award for Top Graduate Employer in Accounting and Professional Services, our fifth win and Top Graduate Employer in Consulting, our second win. The awards celebrate and recognise both the strength of employer brands on campus and excellence in graduate recruitment.

PwC Malaysia is the #1 Preferred Employer (Accounting) at the Graduan Employer Brand Awards!

PwC Malaysia was named #1 Preferred Employer (Accounting) at the Graduan Employer Brand Awards. In a survey by Graduan, students and graduates voted for their most preferred employer, reflecting the strength of employer branding in campuses. A big thank you to all of you who voted for us!

Aside from choosing their preferred employers, students and graduates were also asked to provide opinions on various matters in regards to employment. This included deciding factors when choosing a preferred employer, the methods most used for a career search, as well as their reasons for staying with an organisation.

The study was conducted by GRADUAN, the organiser for 2013 GRADUAN ASPIRE. Over 15,000 students and graduates who visited took part in this survey. The main objective of this survey was to understand what they think of their employability and employer branding.


PwC Malaysia Senior Executive Director Ong Ai Lin recognised for promoting Business Continuity Management in Malaysia

Ong Ai Lin, PwC Malaysia Senior Executive Director, has been awarded the inaugural ‘Outstanding Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)’ award for her contribution to the field of Business Continuity Management (BCM) in Malaysia.

The award was presented by Alan Berman, President of Disaster Recovery Institute (DRI) International at the recent DRI KL2012 conference in Putrajaya Marriott Hotel.

Themed “Effective Risk Management and Business Continuity Management: Keys to Success”, the conference was organised by DRI Malaysia and the Malaysian Association of Risk and Insurance Management (MARIM).

“This is a great initiative by DRI to promote and encourage greater professionalism among BCM practitioners in Malaysia,” said Ai Lin, when receiving this award. “We are proud to have worked with a diverse group of clients on BCM to ensure their business continuity in an increasingly unpredictable business environment,” she added.

The award recognises BCM achievements, professional excellence and contributions to the industry and the community. Ai Lin leads the Business Continuity Management (BCM) practice in PwC Malaysia and has supported many major organisations and growing companies in implementing BCM.

“Ai Lin has demonstrated the highest level of professionalism in her efforts to make her clients more prepared. Her knowledge and dedication epitomises the ideals of Certified Business Continuity Professionals (CBCPs) around the world. Thank you for all you have done for your country, PwC and Business Continuity Professionals,” said Alan Berman, President of DRI International on the award presentation.

National Mergers and Acquisitions Awards 2012 – M&A Transaction Support Firm of the Year and Deal Advisor of the Year

PwC won the “M&A Transaction Support Firm of the Year 2012” award at the 5th National Mergers and Acquisitions Awards Night. The win recognises PwC’s deal advisory, financial and tax due diligence, and tax structuring advisory work in more than 30 completed transactions in the past 12 months.

PwC was also a finalist in the “Deal Advisor of the Year 2012” category.

Presented by the Malaysian Mergers and Acquisitions Association, the awards honour the accomplishments of companies and individuals who have successfully deployed mergers and acquisitions (M&A) strategies to create or enhance shareholder value.

International Tax Review Awards 2010 - Tax Firm of the Year and Transfer Pricing Firm of the Year

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Malaysia was named ‘Tax Firm of the Year’ by leading tax industry publication International Tax Review (ITR) at its annual Asia Tax Awards. PwC Malaysia also took home the award for ‘Transfer Pricing Firm of the Year’.

ITR ranked PwC a ‘Tier 1’ firm in its World Tax 2011 publication, a comprehensive guide to the world’s leading tax firms and tax advisers, in which firms from 50 countries are categorised as either Tier 1, 2, 3 or 4 firms.

Malaysian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (MVCA) - Recognition awards

PwC Malaysia and partner, Datuk Mohd Anwar Yahya, were recognised at the Malaysian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (MVCA) Annual & Award Dinner 2010 night.

The theme was "Venture Capital & Private Equity Industry’s Initiatives and Support Towards Promoting Innovation in Malaysia" and we were recognised for supporting and contributing to the venture capital and private equity industry.

PwC was the sole recipient in the "private organisation" category.


The BrandLaureate Societe Awards 2009-2010, Corporate Responsibility

PwC Malaysia was awarded The BrandLaureate Societe Awards 2009-2010, Corporate Responsibility for its strong Corporate Responsibility (CR) programmes that support various community, social and environment projects. Of notable mention is PwC Malaysia's instrumental role in launching the StarBiz-ICR Malaysia Corporate Responsibility Awards, which has helped to highlight the importance of good CR amongst organisations in Malaysia.

The Asia Pacific Brands Foundation (APBF), a not for profit organisation established in 2004, initiated The BrandLaureate Societe Awards to recognise excellence in the fields of corporate social responsibility, promotion of green causes and philanthropy. The winners are organisations and individuals who have contributed to the development of the society where they operate, guided by their values and culture.


IFN News Awards Poll 2009 - Best Islamic Consultancy

PwC Malaysia has won the "Best Islamic Consultancy" award in the Islamic Finance News Awards Poll 2009. The Global Islamic Finance Team located in Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, London and Bahrain has been providing services in the strategy, IT, tax, audit and consulting work to Islamic Finance entities globally as well as managing the firm's media profiling in events such as the World Islamic Economic Forum.

Islamic Finance News (IFN), one of the leading Islamic Finance focused publications, has a readership of 19,500 covering European to Asian readers. The annual IFN Poll recognises the best providers of Islamic financial services across a series of markets and sectors as voted by its readers, who include Islamic finance issuers, investors, non-banking financial intermediaries and government bodies.
