Fundamentals of Valuation

The requirements of IFRS13 have formalised the need for fair value determination of investment holdings and have increased the need for financial professionals to be able to carry out, understand and apply valuation techniques when preparing statutory accounts. This workshop is designed to meet these requirements and will cover:

  • Valuation methodologies;
  • Levels of value;
  • Equity value v/s Enterprise value;
  • Book value v/s Market value;
  • Discounted Cash Flows;
  • Market and Transaction Multiples; and
  • Premiums and discounts.

 

Who should attend?

The workshop is targeted at both beginner and intermediate finance professionals working in a corporate environment. The session is also suitable for more experienced individuals looking to refresh their valuation skills.

The workshop assumes that participants will have a basic knowledge of financial terms, general accounting and valuation principles.

About the trainer

 

Michael Ho Wan Kau

Niteen Heerasing

Niteen is a Senior Manager in the Advisory Deals practice at PwC Mauritius. He heads valuation at PwC Mauritius and is heavily involved in carrying valuations for the firm, and reviewing valuations for the assurance team. Niteen holds a Bachelor in Actuarial Science from the London School of Economics and a Masters in Financial Mathematics from King's College London. He is also a CFA charterholder.
