PwC Singapore has over 110 partners and strength of more than 3,300 employees providing professional services, guided by our culture, values and purpose of building trust in society and solving important problems. This report has our story and in it, we share what we have done as a firm during the year for our people, clients, community and the environment.

"It goes without saying that FY20 was a challenging year for businesses and people across the globe. I’m glad to share, despite the tough conditions unleashed by the COVID-19 pandemic, we did not budge from our commitments to living our purpose, helping clients achieve their goals, upskilling our people, serving our communities and creating a sustainable future."

FY20 key highlights

Our people

At PwC Singapore, people are at the heart of our business strategy and success. As a purpose-led, values driven firm, all our people engagement efforts come from how we live our purpose as we demonstrate the five values of PwC in our daily lives.

In Oct 2019, PwC Singapore pledged S$10 million towards its “New world. New skills.” ambition, to support its employees, clients and community in their digital upskilling journey. In addition to our Digital Academy’s efforts to equip partners and staff with skills in data automation, visualisation and robotic process automation (RPA) tools, a dedicated group of our people were also empowered to innovate, lead and drive change within the firm and beyond.

During the pandemic, the firm also strengthened support for its people through regular communications, organised initiatives to enhance personal and professional wellbeing and offered financial support to those who faced significant financial challenges because of the pandemic.

Our community

Aligned with our global New world. New skills. campaign, there is a strong focus on skills-based volunteering, helping non-governmental organisations, social service agencies and social enterprises build their digital capabilities and develop new skills in order to emerge stronger in the new world. Ranging from forums for social sector leaders, to digital disruption masterclasses for practitioners to project-specific volunteering, our beneficiaries reached increased by 2,030% this year.

PwC Singapore continued to show its support for the community by adopting a holistic COVID-19 response. In addition to our skills-based volunteering contribution, PwC Singapore Foundation also made a dollar-for-dollar match of all staff contributions, towards a meal support scheme which addressed the food insecurity issue in Singapore during the pandemic.

The firm also reimagined its ways of working to contribute to the business community effectively, while supporting them in their digital transformation journeys. This was done through dedicated thought leadership publications and webinars focused on helping the business community build resilience in order to remain adaptable during these trying times.

Our environment

PwC Singapore focuses its efforts on lowering its overall carbon footprint through the use of new technologies and encouraging environmentally responsible behaviour to achieve its targets. We achieved 100% renewable electricity for the second consecutive year in FY20, and maintained a 100% offset for air travel emissions.

As a firm that drives environmental stewardship, we also help our people understand the fragility of our environment and how they can contribute to its protection, by running internal awareness campaigns, making operational changes to support them in their zero waste journey and by working with partner organisations to extend the impact beyond the workplace.

Raising our ambition further, PwC has made a worldwide science-based commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2030. This includes efforts such as reducing emissions from our operations and supply chain, and working with our clients to accelerate net zero transformation.
