Summary of professional experience

Robert leads PwC’s customs  and trade practice in Japan.  He is based in Tokyo and has over 23 years of experience with customs and global trade, including industry, brokerage and consulting experience.

Robert assists companies with managing their  import/export compliance on a global basis through process transformation and automation . He has broad technical experience with business planning, automation and execution in the areas of customs valuation, tariff classification, origin and free trade agreements, performing compliance audits and assisting companies in structuring their global supply chains to maximise opportunities for duty savings while minimising exposure to customs compliance risks.

Robert additionally has direct experience in the development and implementation of global business process requirements and designs for automated trade compliance systems and supply chain solutions.

He has experience supporting clients in a wide range of industries, such as: high-tech, automotive, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, manufacturing, retail, oil, and gas and chemicals. In the automotive sector he has worked for and with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Tier 1 suppliers and Tier 2 suppliers. Prior to joining PwC, Robert worked for another Big Four accounting firm and previously for a Japanese automotive OEM.
