Masaya Kato is the leader of PwC’s M&A Transactions team for financial services.
Masaya started his carrier with a major domestic bank in Tokyo, after which he joined PwC in 2000 where he was involved in audit, accounting advisory, IPO support, due diligence and internal control for banks and capital market clients. He had seconded to Financial Advisory, PwC US at New York office, for 2 years from 2007 through 2009.
Currently, he provides a variety of services to major Japanese financial institutions, including cross-border M&A advisory and PMI advisory services, as well as IFRS, JGAAP/USGAAP accounting advisory and financial regulatory/compliance and advisory services.
Since 2009, he has been engaged in IFRS global implementation projects at mega-banks, being in charge of Tokyo headquarters and major overseas locations. From 2011, Masaya has also been engaged in cross-border M&A and PMI projects with mega-banks and group companies.
