Masaya Kato is the leader of M&A transactions team for financial services in PwC Japan Group and the leader of financial services in the Asia Pacific region.
Masaya started his career with a major commercial bank in Tokyo, after which he joined PwC’s member firm in 2000 where he was involved in audit, accounting advisory, IPO support, due diligence and internal control for banks and capital market clients. He was seconded to Financial Advisory in PwC US at the New York office for 2 years from 2007 through 2009.
Currently, he provides a variety of services to major Japanese financial institutions, including M&A advisory in overseas markets and formulation of business strategies, support for compliance with local financial laws and regulations and for approval applications, as well as governance, risk and compliance advisory.
