Profile

Mr. Takano has over 15 years of experience with PwC Tax Japan. He joined the firm with experience of working as a corporate bonds credit analyst for Japanese financial services.

At PwC Tax Japan, he has provided a broad range of tax services, specifically on private equity fund structuring, M&A tax structuring and tax due diligence, international tax planning for Japanese clients, and tax consulting for companies in the process of business recovery. Additionally, he has expertise in accounting for income taxes under US GAAP and Japanese GAAP and serves as a core member of our Tax Accounting Services Group.

Outside of his client work, he has served as a member of various professional committees in the field of business recovery.

Mr. Takano graduated from Golden Gate University with a Master’s degree in taxation. He is a licensed Japanese certified public accountant and a licensed Japanese certified public tax consultant.

Mr. Takano is the leader of our PwC Tax Japan BEPS knowledge team and has led several client seminars. He is the key person for this topic at the firm and has had several newspaper / magazine interviews. In 2015, he was interviewed by “Morning Satellite” – TV Tokyo and also led the BEPS lecture series for Nikkei Sangyo newspaper.

He also co-authored for several publications such as Chuo-kizaisha and Zeimu Kouho for topics such as Asia M&A, Business Restructuring Tax, and Dead Equity Swap.

I understand that our primary objective is to provide our clients with comprehensive advice on complex tax matters, based on PwC's broad knowledge and experiences. There are times when the tax implications under the current laws and regulations are not fair to the taxpayer. In such a case, I am willing take the role of delivering those issues to the respective tax authorities with the aim of contributing to an ideal and appropriate taxation system for the taxpayer.
