Technical update workshop - Non-Executive Directors

We were delighted to host our CI event for Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) on 17 and 18 January 2023. These events are our flagship PwC technical updates for NEDs looking to keep-up-to date on the latest hot topics in corporate reporting before the 2022/ 2023 financial reporting season kicks off, including focussed, tailored sessions held by subject matter experts from PwC UK.

It also was an excellent opportunity to network and collaborate with other members of the NED community.

Overview agenda

The sessions examined the implications of the most significant recent developments in governance, corporate reporting and technical accounting, including in relation to ESG and climate change, as well as other topics relevant to the audit committee agenda:

FRC Thematic reviews and annual review of corporate reporting
Inflation - impact on financial reporting
Update on the latest IFRS IC agenda decisions
Feedback from the 2022 PwC review of FTSE 350 reporting
Current FRC and FCA developments and areas of focus
Climate change reporting and wider ESG reporting developments
Update on UK regulatory reform

The updates were of particular interest to Audit Committee members but is also of use to other Non-Executive Directors wishing to further develop their understanding of accounting and corporate governance developments in the UK.

Speaker profiles

John provides advice and updates on corporate governance and reporting developments to management teams, boards and the non-executive director community. He has been a regular speaker for many years at the PwC UK Audit Committee Network for the chairs and members of FTSE 350 audit committees.

Arran has served as an IFRS technical expert based in London since 2013, as part of the UK Accounting Consulting Services' Financial Instruments Topic Team. He's a member of PwC’s Global Asset Management working group, a group of IFRS experts and engagement partners that deal with the IFRS issues facing the industry.

Olaf is a director in PwC's Accounting Consulting Services business. He has over 20 years of experience in accounting advisory work, auditing and assisting companies based in the US, UK and Europe in GAAP conversions and raising capital in the US.
