The GINOP PLUSZ-2.1.1-21 “Supporting the enterprise research, development and innovation activities” call for proposals will be live soon

Tax & Legal Alert | PwC Hungary | 11 May 2021

The GINOP PLUS-2.1.1-21 draft call for proposals has been published on the information page of the European Union co-financed calls, so the final version of the call and the possibility to submit the project proposals are expected soon.

The research, development and innovation (RDI) subsidy will be available for both SME’s and large enterprises. The call’s aim is to support the RDI activity of different sized enterprises at different development levels.

The minimum intensity of funding is 25%, and the amount of non-refundable incentive can be HUF 50 million minimum, and HUF 400 million maximum. In case of consortia with a participant research institute, projects can receive an incentive amount between HUF 400 million HUF 1000 million.

The project site must be at the registered seat, site or branch of the applicant (or the member of the consortium) in Hungary.

Projects implemented in Budapest are not eligible for this call.

If a company plans to apply for such R&D subsidy, we recommend beginning preparations in due time, as the project summary must be submitted to the National Research, Development and Innovation Office in order to pre-qualify the R&D content of the project. If the project receives a positive opinion, it is then possible to submit the application to the Ministry of Finance.

If you have any questions regarding the above – or regarding any other form of RDI subsidies – please don’t hesitate to contact one of our expert colleagues below, or your usual PwC contact.
