08 April, 2025

We would like to share with you the latest developments regarding the reciprocal tariff decision issued by US President Donald Trump on 3 April. Starting 5 April, a 10% tariff will be applied to all goods imported into the US. Additionally, the US will impose reciprocal tariffs on several countries and territories with significant trade deficits. For Vietnam, this reciprocal tariff will be set at 46%, effective from 9 April.

Given the substantial impact of this decision on various sectors in Vietnam - especially those with significant exports to the US - the Government has begun taking initial steps to respond to these challenges.

In this Newsbrief, we will summarise the key impacts of the tariff implementation on businesses in Vietnam and highlight important considerations for exporters during this period.
