Increased Social Insurance Contributions for Foreign Employees in 2022

Since 1 December 2018, foreign individuals working in Vietnam have been required to participate in the state social insurance (SI) scheme. However, the introduction of this requirement was on a stepped basis.
Up until 31 December 2021, only a part of the scheme had come into effect.
Effective from 1 January, foreign employees must fully participate in the SI scheme. Both employers and their foreign employees must now contribute to all the three of the SI funds. Therefore, the total SI contribution for foreign employees is now significantly increased.
