Launch of the PwC Sustainability Academy

At PwC, our purpose is to build trust in society, and solve important problems. In the field of sustainability, no purpose is more true. From climate change and resource scarcity, to urbanisation and the ageing population, we recognise that global megatrends are rapidly transforming the context in which all organisations are operating. We also know they’re creating new risks and opportunities that organisations must capture if long-term value and viability are to be maintained.

During November 2015, we were proud to launch our PwC Sustainability Academy – a one-of-a-kind executive education programme in sustainability aimed at empowering organisations with the knowledge and skills to navigate these more complex and turbulent times.

At the Academy, we work to equip organisations across private sector, government, NGO and academic domains with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate these complex and turbulent times.

In particular, we aim to highlight the relevance of economic, environmental and social issues to organisations across all sectors –as well as share cutting-edge sustainability management practices based on our real-life experience working with the world’s leading organisations.

We also believe that knowledge sharing and learning should be used to ignite inspiration and innovation. Using our extensive experience in providing corporate training in all forms, we seek to deliver unique learning experiences that are stimulating, engaging, and valuable, and which continue to have an impact long beyond the end of a course.

Beyond this, the Academy also aims to be a platform connecting sustainability leaders from all sectors to discuss complex sustainability issues that can only be solved through mutual understanding and collaboration.

Our inaugural courses in November and December included our well-recognised GRI G4 Certified Training course, held during 12-13 November, as well as our new Introduction to the UN Sustainable Development Goals course on 26 November, which was aimed at creating better understanding about SDGs amongst business.  We also held a masterclass on Business and Human Rights on 15 December.  All events were joined by keen participants from leading companies from various industries - including oil and gas, refining, mining and food and beverages.
