We were delighted to host two events in collaboration with Lloyds Bank International. We heard from leading experts in sustainable finance for real estate on the latest developments and innovations in the market and discussed how our local finance industry can be best placed to play a role and explored the opportunities together.
The Channel Islands are well-established jurisdictions of choice for structures holding real estate assets in the UK and beyond.
Real estate assets, and the wider built environment, are critical to how we shape a sustainable future, with ever-increasing expectations for environmental and social impact, community placemaking, and resilience. This is driving innovation in how such developments are financed, through different mechanisms, structures and partnerships in the UK and beyond.
In line with the ambitions of Jersey and Guernsey as leading sustainable IFCs, and building on jurisdictional strengths in real estate investment, there is an opportunity to further build, collaborate and promote our capabilities and offerings for sustainable real estate finance.
Our event was aimed primarily at those involved in the overseas real estate investment industry from the Channel Islands. However, we also touched on the implications for local real estate development markets in the Channel Islands, and all with an interest were welcome.
Chinyelu Oranefo is a highly experienced sustainable finance practitioner who shared practical examples of the transformational ways in which finance is supporting sustainable real estate and the capabilities and components required.
