PwC Thailand’s Legal Roadshow

1St Topic: A practical guide for Thailand’s personal data protection

Details of Seminar

Communication technology development undeniably comes with challenges and risks. Nevertheless, the technology has created tremendous changes in and improvements to our lives. While companies thrive by exploiting communication technologies, public awareness of personal data protection has increased and is an area of concern for many. Cases of data misuse and abuse have been spreading worldwide including Thailand. Because of this, the Thai government has passed the Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019) (PDPA) to monitor and control the use of personal data of all stakeholders, including employees’ personal data.

Besides the PDPA, the labour protection law is no less significant to the success of today’s businesses as the amendments to the law require businesses to change their internal practice and policy.

What will you get from this seminar?

Since the PDPA is relatively new, information about this law is still limited. As a result, a practical approach for dealing with its compliance is to analyse and we will update you on the current global situation and discuss some cases of data breach that have received global attention.

We will give you an overview of the law and its regulatory requirements. We will also look at how companies and organisations can prepare themselves for legal compliance in their day-to-day business operations and provide guidelines to manage potential risks comparing with different cases outside of Thailand that are subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) violations.

We will also update you on the new labour protection law amendments which will impact your businesses.

2nd Topic: How to maximize BOI incentives for manufacturing sector under the new investment laws and policies while complying with BOI regulations and other legal compliance to circumvent tax, civil and criminal risk

Details of Seminar

The government wants to stimulate the economy and has issued many investment promotion schemes, such as offering corporate tax exemption and reduction for both new and current projects to increase both foreign and domestic investment in Thailand.

However, BOI regulation compliance poses tax risks for promoted investors, especially if they don’t know how to apply the government incentives.

Moreover, operating a business with sustainable growth requires good governance and management to build confidence among stakeholders and raise your organization to international standards. So, business operators should understand legal compliance and management of noncompliance penalties for the manufacturing sector.

What will you get from this seminar?

You’ll get beneficial and helpful information in

  • planning investments that avoid BOI non-compliance risks; and
  • dealing with the laws for manufacturing operation, focusing on key issues, such as regulations concerning business premises, health-hazardous business, hazardous substance and disposal measures, gas or other controlled energy, electric system, boilers, radiation generator, environment, food sales and storage, private truck transportation, etc.
