This panel brings together industry leaders to share their real-world insights in key areas such as:

  • Remaining agile in an evolving landscape: How asset management strategies are changing to adapt and seize opportunities in the current economic landscape and transformative impact of AI. What more can be done to achieve sustainable returns which investors are looking for?

Panel: Climate and sustainability leadership—Next steps for the real estate sector

Sustainability and climate change has been a global topical matter over the past few years, and the real estate sector has taken leadership in this, including in Asia Pacific. The real estate sector contributes to approximately 40% of total CO2 emissions globally and the real estate sector indeed can continue to move the needle and lead with purpose.

Developers, investors, rating agencies and solution providers have been addressing stakeholder expectations on sustainability, and driving the climate agenda across asset classes.

There are market leaders who recognise sustainability as a strategic priority and manage to create competitive advantages and business value through sustainability, in addition to manage their climate risks for long-term asset protection. For the rest, mainstream players have also been making efforts to make their sustainability disclosures compliant-ready and decision-useful.

The panel will discuss topics including:

  • What strategies worked in the past that was good for business and good for sustainability? What strategies should we continue to apply in this next bound?
  • What are the risks and opportunities in this new era, as we navigate investor and other stakeholder expectations, energy and innovation challenges, data, regulatory, and disclosure and reporting requirements?
  • What does leadership mean in this next bound?
