Kok Weng has more than 16 years of audit and advisory experience. Kok Weng advises clients on transactions, including when clients make acquisitions or face crisis situations. Aside from financial institutions and selected non-FS corporates, he works extensively with private equity and sovereign wealth funds such as Temasek. His other advisory experience includes asset recovery, corporate restructuring and acting as reporting and monitoring accountant.
In advising active shareholders such as private equity funds, Kok Weng has demonstrated that he can quickly identify drivers underpinning business affairs and offer alternative views such as on the businesses to focus on/commence and offer suggestions of operating models after taking into account current and possible end state. In business reviews that he has undertaken, Kok Weng also focused heavily on capital and funding structure of companies, management and finance capability/bandwidth, finance infrastructure including use of MIS to manage monitor key business drivers etc.
Kok Weng has significant cross border experience and understands stakeholder management well. He has worked in London for 3.5 years and has led/managed repeated projects in most Asian countries.
He has also project-managed transaction teams in excess of 100 members and has the requisite project management and communication skills to handle large/diverse teams of people.
In the past year, Kok Weng has been focusing on developing the secondary market for loans in the region. In this role, he interacts with market participants, banks and regulators.
He is also part of a 3 partner team managing a group of professionals providing forensic, dispute as well as business recovery services to clients. In this role, Kok-Weng directs, coordinates and manages investigations on fraud, corruption, bankruptcies etc. He works closely with parties such as the Commercial Affairs Department, stock exchanges and other regulators. Kok Weng has also supported to provide litigation support and dispute analysis relating to corporates using financial derivatives supplied by financial institutions. His experience in restructuring and recovery assignments includes companies such as WesTech Electronics Limited, Jaya Holdings Ltd, FibreChem Technologies Limited, Roy Eastern Watch Pte Ltd and MDR Limited.
