Imigration law

Short-term visa (C type visa) – duration of stay in Latvia and the Schengen area - up to 90 days in a 180-day period.

Long term visa (D type visa) – duration of stay in Latvia - up to 1 year, while in the Schengen area – up to 90 days in a 180-day period.

Description of services:

  •  Preparation of an employment/service agreement depending on the chosen cooperation model; 
  • Announcement of a vacancy in the State Employment Agency (if necessary); 
  • Preparation of an invitation letter and other necessary documents for the obtaining of a visa, including with right to work; 
  •  Assistance on visa obtaining process, preparation of necessary documents; 
  • Communication and organization of the process in cooperation with the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs and the Latvian Embassy in abroad; 
  •  Preparation of a notification to the State Labour Inspectorate in accordance with the requirements of the Labour Law (if necessary).

Temporary residence permit is a document which gives a foreigner the right to reside in the Republic of Latvia for up to 5 years.

European Union Blue Card (EU blue card) is a temporary residence permit for employees who are highly qualified and will be employed in Latvia for over 90 days within a 180-day period, and who: 

  •  have acquired higher education in a study programme the length of which is at least 3 years, in the relevant speciality or in the sector determined in the employment contract; or 
  •  have professional experience of at least 5 years in the sector determined in the employment contract or in the relevant speciality.

  •  Communication and organization of the process in cooperation with the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs and the Latvian Embassy in abroad; 
  •  Preparation of a notification to the State Labour Inspectorate in accordance with the requirements of the Labour Law (if necessary); 
  •  Legal assistance on temporary residence permit annual registration process, including for EU blue card, in the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs, including the preparation of the necessary documents.

Description of services:

  •  Preparation of explanations for the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs regarding the extension of the term for making a decision; 
  • Contestation and appeal of decisions on extension; 
  • Contestation of unfavourable administrative decisions to refuse a visa or a residence permit;
  • Representation of the client in the contestation process, including the preparation of the necessary explanations; 
  • Appeal of the final decision of the Head of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs to the administrative court; 
  • Representation of client in the administrative proceedings in all court instances.

  •  Preparation of a service agreement;
  • Preparation of an invitation letter and other necessary documents for obtaining a visa, including with right to work; 
  • Assistance in the process of obtaining a visa, preparation of necessary documents; 
  • Communication and organization of the process in cooperation with the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs and the Latvian Embassy in abroad; 
  • Preparation of a posting order for the employee; 
  • Preparation of a notification to the State Labour Inspectorate (if necessary) in accordance with the requirements of the Labour Law; 
  • Submission or supplementation of the notification, representation of the client at the State Labour Inspectorate.

A temporary residence permit with an ICT (intra-corporate transfer) notice entitles its holder to reside and work in the first member state for up to 3 years, as well as in the territory of other member states for up to 90 days in a 180-day period.

Employees planning to be transferred from a company established in a third country to a company belonging to the same group of companies and established in a member state of the European Union or the European Economic Area apply for a temporary residence permit with an ICT notice.
