Compliance Specialist

We are actively seeking a highly motivated candidate to join the Compliance team for our client, a Bermuda based captive insurance company that provides insurance to one of the world’s leading professional services organizations. Job title will be dependent on prior experience.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Candidates are likely to possess 3- 10 years' experience, with capacity to shape the role according to relevant experience
  • Knowledge of regulatory and legislative regimes in Bermuda preferred
  • Highly motivated individual with ability to work on own initiative within a challenging / dynamic work environment
  • Team player with good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must demonstrate capability of working within demanding situations that require the ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines and work overtime on short notice
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong IT skills

General Role and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will report to the Compliance Officer and have the following key responsibilities:

  • Assist with the execution and reporting of compliance activities set out in the Compliance Plan
  • Identification, assessment, and monitoring of the full spectrum of compliance risk exposures i.e. beyond financial crime compliance
  • Assessment of the effectiveness of key controls through sample-based controls testing
  • Undertaking compliance deep dive risk assessments
  • Monitoring and analyzing the regulatory landscape to identify the possible impact of changes on the Group
  • Assisting with the annual refresh of the Compliance Plan
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with applicable affiliate compliance requirements
  • Maintenance and monitoring of Compliance policies and process flows
  • Reviewing compliance with internal policies
  • Communicating and/or providing training on compliance related matters
  • Undertaking fit and proper assessments for board members and key function holders
  • Assisting in the provision of an effective corporate governance framework
  • Preparation of papers for Board/Committee meetings
  • Taking formal minutes of Committee meetings
  • Collaborating across the business on ad-hoc regulatory change projects, as required
