Corporate Services - Senior Associate

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our Entity Governance and Compliance / Corporate Services practice at the Senior Associate level. The successful candidate will be key member of our local and regional EGC/Corporate services team.

Responsibilities will include and are not limited to:

  • Executing Corporate Secretarial and Corporate Advisory duties with respect to a portfolio of domestic, regional and international clients within Bermuda and wider Caribbean EGC practice;
  • Carrying out or supervising due diligence, quality and risk management procedures; 
  • Assisting with trust administration services as required; 
  • Supervising and reviewing functions and work of corporate administrators and support staff;
  • Advising on corporate legislation, practice and procedure;
  • Reporting to regulatory authorities;
  • Attending to incorporation, amalgamation, registration, licensing, continuation and liquidation proceedings; 
  • Providing support in all others areas of the service offering of the regional practice, including Corporate Governance; and
  • Managing, mentoring and training more junior corporate services professionals.

Required Skills and experience

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Business or Legal degree preferred and ACIS (or equivalent) qualification essential; STEP qualification would also be an asset; 
  • A sound knowledge of The Companies Act 1981; 
  • A minimum of 4 years relevant corporate secretarial experience gained in a professional services/law firm; 
  • Experience with company formation, corporate governance and compliance, and all corporate actions; 
  • Capable of drafting complex minutes; 
  • Familiarity with online corporate banking systems, including setting up payments; 
  • Proficient in the AML/ATF requirements for licensed Corporate and Trust Services Provider; 
  • Experience with Trusts would be an asset as would experience dealing with funds and/or companies within the insurance sector; 
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; and
  • A driven self starter with a proven ability to work independently.

PwC’s U.S. Tax Group in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands has exciting opportunities at various levels. As a member of the U.S. Tax Group you will assist offshore businesses, individuals and organisations with their U.S. and international tax strategy, planning and compliance, while delivering a wide range of business advisory services. The opportunities involve combining industry insight with the technical skills of financial and tax specialists, lawyers and our other in-house experts as necessary, to develop comprehensive integrated solutions.

U.S. Tax – Associates, Experienced Associates and Senior Associates

Responsibilities will include and are not limited to:

  • The preparation and review of U.S. tax returns for insurance companies, investment funds and other U.S. tax filings;
  • Conducting U.S. tax research and drafting tax technical research memoranda;
  • The preparation of presentation materials for the marketing of U.S. tax services; and
  • Meeting with existing and potential clients to discuss tax issues.

Candidates must possess the following skills and experience:

  • A Bachelors Degree with a specialisation in accounting/taxation or a law degree from an accredited university;
  • Qualified to sit the CPA exam with either a relevant Masters Degree or 5th year equivalent. Candidates qualified to sit the bar exam in a U.S. state will also be considered;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Highly organised, dedicated and self-motivated; with
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management.

Candidates being considered for the Experienced Associate level will have at least 1 year in U.S. taxation work experience in addition to the above. Candidates for the Senior Associate role will have a minimum of 2 years of U.S. taxation work experience in addition to the above.

U.S. Tax – Managers

Responsibilities will include and are not limited to:

  • The review of U.S. tax returns for insurance companies, investments funds and other U.S. tax filings;
  • The supervision of U.S. tax professionals in conjunction with
    • Conducting U.S. tax research and drafting tax technical research memoranda
    • The preparation of presentation materials for the marketing of U.S tax services;
  • Meeting with existing and potential clients to discuss tax issues; and
  • Managing client engagements, including staffing and economics.

Capabilities/Skills Required:

  • A Bachelors Degree with a specialisation in accounting/taxation or a law degree from an accredited university;
  • Successful completion of the U.S. Certified Public Accounting Exam and licensed to practice as a CPA; or admitted to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction;
  • A minimum of 48 months U.S. taxation work experience with an international accounting Firm, international law firm or similar work experience specialising in U.S. tax issues of partnerships and corporations;
  • Tax experience working with hedge funds, private equity funds, other investment partnerships or insurance companies preferred;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, ATX and GoSystem;
  • Highly organised, dedicated and self-motivated;
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal and time management skills; 
  • Ability to coach and mentor more junior team members; and
  • Proven track record of working collegially with other management group member to collectively get the job done.

U.S. Tax – Senior Managers

Senior Associates - Assurance

PwC Bermuda has career building opportunities for nearly and fully qualified accountants in our assurance practice. 

Applicants for our senior associate positions should hold an internationally recognised accounting designation (CA, CPA, ACA, ACCA) and have approximately three years of relevant audit experience. Experience in the financial services industry would be an asset but is not essential. 

Strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently and within a team. Knowledge and experience of US GAAP is a benefit for some teams but not essential. Previous work on a US SEC registrant or with controls-based audits will also be valuable in certain teams. Our focus is on delivering a high quality service to audit clients, with an ability to leverage resources from around the world.

Managers - Insurance/Reinsurance

In Bermuda, PwC provides vital services within one of the world’s leading financial services centers. As a member of the PwC Bermuda Insurance and Reinsurance Group, you will be involved in the provision of assurance and other services to companies domiciled in the third largest insurance and reinsurance market in the world. This is a fast-paced, challenging and rapidly changing environment in which you will have the opportunity to interact regularly with client representatives of some of the largest companies in the insurance and reinsurance market place.

Responsibilities:

Working closely with engagement leaders, you will be involved in the planning, execution and completion of a variety of engagements. With teams ranging from 3 to 20 in size and with audit clients’ revenues ranging from $6 billion to less than $100 million, there is an opportunity to either develop a wide variety of skills or become involved in specialist areas.

Required skills/experience:

  • Candidates must have a recognized professional accounting designation and have 6+ years relevant audit experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of US GAAP is preferred, with IAS also an asset;
  • Previous work on a US SEC registrant or with controls-based audits will be valuable in helping you adapt to the work of the Group, while industry experience would be a considerable asset;
  • Strong communication skills; and
  • The ability to work independently and within a team.

Risk Assurance - Senior Associate

Required skills/ experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university;

  • Additional IT and audit qualifications (e.g. QiCA, CRISC or CIA) would be an asset;
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant IT audit experience gained working in a Big 4 or consulting environment;
  • Experience in performing IT audits in support of an external audit is essential, experience of PCAOB audit standards is highly preferred;
  • Candidates should also have experience using ACL or other Computer Aided Audit Tools (CAATs); and
  • Ability to effectively integrate and communicate with both clients and members of the Assurance teams.
