Learning outcomes
This course provides participants with a practical understanding of the general tax compliance obligations applicable to individuals and businesses operating in the agricultural and renewable energy sectors. The session covers key obligations under Income Tax, VAT, Withholding Tax and related regimes, with a focus on how these requirements apply to farmers, agro‑processors, cooperatives, and renewable energy developers. Participants will also explore the tax incentives, exemptions, and investment opportunities available to investors in the agricultural industry, including deductions, capital allowances, and sector‑specific tax benefits aimed at supporting growth and sustainability.
In addition, the training examines recent developments in the taxation of carbon rights and credits, an increasingly important area as organisations pursue climate‑friendly investments and carbon‑reduction initiatives. The session will highlight the emerging tax positions, reporting expectations, and compliance considerations for entities engaging in carbon projects or trading carbon credits. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge needed to navigate sector‑specific tax requirements, maximise available opportunities, and strengthen compliance in a rapidly evolving regulatory environment.
