Learning outcomes
This course provides participants with a clear understanding of the tax compliance requirements for non‑profit organisations operating in Uganda. It covers the criteria for qualifying as an exempt organisation under the Income Tax Act, the process of applying for exemption through the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), and key obligations such as PAYE for employees. The training also highlights practical risks linked to casual labourers and consultants, particularly around employment classification and withholding tax obligations.
Participants will also explore common VAT issues affecting non‑profits in Uganda, including when exemptions, zero‑rating, or refund opportunities may apply. The course further examines emerging compliance pressures in the country, such as heightened audit scrutiny and evolving regulatory expectations. By the end, learners will be able to strengthen their organisation’s tax governance and minimise exposure to penalties and disputes.
