The 15th Conference Internal Audit, Control and Effective IT Management

The 15th Conference Internal Audit, Control and Effective IT Management was held on 21 September 2017.
More than 50 participants representing companies from various industries, including agricultural business, energy sector, banking industry, ІТ and many others attended this event.
The following topics were discussed:
- trends and developments in audit and control; IT strategy of the business;
- best practices of building an effective audit and control model;
- cyber risks, technology and value-adding tools;
- case studies, experience of various companies, and action plans.
Irina Blinova, PwC Academy Leader, gave an opening speech and presented
key global and local business development trends, namely, international and CEO perspectives on key trends. Four key areas were considered, namely: competition, robots vs humans, trust in digital age and globalisation. Irina shared the key skills sought by СЕОs in the labour market today, as well as reasons why innovations and new skilled human resources are the key areas of CEO focus.
Then Irina presented key trends in internal audit profession:
- key risks and disruptive factors faced by companies;
- what is a 'flexible' internal audit function and how to achieve it;
- action plan for heads of internal audit.
Finally, Irina presented the cartoon Auditors of the Future! What Do They Look Like? that illustrated key skills and competences essential for the auditor of the future.
During a panel discussion moderated by Irina Blinova, the concept of '3 lines of defence' and its practical implementation was discussed. The panel participants had an opportunity to share their experience, practical tools and the best practices.
Moreover, the panel participants presented their life hacks – i.e. things that motivate and inspire them to achieve the desired objective and constantly improve their skills.
After sharing theoretical knowledge, participants of the Conference discussed internal auditor competences during the round table and presented their views on the future of this profession.
