One of the farmers to whom we gave relief goods, brought us sticky rice. I was amazed how people who have so little can still be generous. Indeed no one is so poor to have nothing to give.
In December, as the country embraced the second Christmas season in lockdown due to the pandemic and the devastating impact of typhoon Odette to the lives of farmers in Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental, my family and I traveled to the area to share food and rice for some 500 individuals and farmers. I realized that it is ironic that those who plant and provide us food are the ones lacking the resources to buy a decent meal for their families.
