An exclusive event for senior business leaders

14 January: PwC Business Breakfast with Edward Lucas

People sitting

Global capital moves on confidence. Today, that confidence is increasingly shaped not only by facts on the ground, but by how geopolitical risk is framed, amplified and repeated across international media.

On the 14th of January, PwC Lithuania invites business leaders to an exclusive Business Breakfast with Edward Lucas, one of Europe’s most authoritative voices on geopolitics and information warfare, to examine how Kremlin-originated narratives – sometimes unintentionally echoed in European media – distort perceptions of the Baltic states, with tangible consequences for investment confidence, capital allocation and long-term economic growth.

The interview with Edward Lucas will be led by Nerijus Nedzinskas, PwC Lithuania Country Managing Partner.

Edward Lucas, leading authority on geopolitics, information warfare, espionage, cyber-security and European security.

Why this discussion matters

Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and its wider hostile actions pose a real ongoing security threat to Europe, including the Baltic region. For business leaders, the challenge is not whether geopolitical risk exists – it does – but how that risk is understood, framed and translated into strategic and investment decisions.

In recent years, international media coverage has increasingly portrayed Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia as fragile, exposed and inevitable flashpoints of conflict. These portrayals do not reflect the region’s actual resilience, NATO integration, and economic fundamentals.

While the security threat from Russia is real, misleading or exaggerated narratives create additional, unnecessary risks:

  • Inflating perceived geopolitical exposure beyond reality
  • Increasing financing, insurance and borrowing costs
  • Discouraging long-term investment and expansion
  • Undermining confidence among boards, partners and global stakeholders

For CEOs, CFOs and board members, accurate interpretation of geopolitical risk is now a core leadership responsibility.

Who should attend

  • CEOs and Managing Directors

  • Board Members and Non-Executive Directors

  • CFOs and Finance Leaders

  • Partners and senior executives with regional, investment or risk oversight
