Deals holds Microbusiness Accounting Workshop for residents of Sta. Ana, Rizal

Deals Manager Maita Quiocho welcomes 20 participants and members of KAMAI.

Deals & Corporate Finance, in association with Ateneo de Manila University’s Junior Fellowship for Financial Literacy (JFeL), held their first corporate responsibility (CR) project last 3 October 2015 through a workshop entitled Microbusiness Accounting Workshop at the 29th Floor Learning Room.

Twenty representatives of the Kaakibat sa Kaunlaran ng mga Magulang at Mag-aaral Inc. (KAMAI), a community organization based in Sta. Ana, Taytay, Rizal,  came to learn about the fundamentals of running a business.

As some of the attendees already have viable businesses such as rag making, soap making, rice selling, pre-school management, and cupcake baking, while some are planning to start their own business, the eagerness and enthusiasm were maintained from beginning to end.

KAMAI members' attention remained high for the entire day as volunteers from Deals  trudged through the concepts of  variable and fixed costs, break-even point, running a successful business, bookkeeping and other financial statement transactions.

The group also learned the definition of a business entity, the law of supply and demand, pricing strategies, and fixed and variable expenses.

Conceptualized and coordinated by Deals Associate Franco Imperial, who was also a former member of JFeL, the workshop was conducted by Deals Associates Denise Senires and Jofferson Panos. Assistant Manager Marvin Alejandro lent his time to patiently teach a simplified way of computing the break-even point as well how to check for profit and loss.

The event was led by the Deals Special Projects Committee, which includes Manager Maita Valero-Quiocho, who gave the welcome remarks that day. Markets Corporate Responsibility Manager Edwin Padillo gave the closing remarks.
